Warhorse - A pretty good movie with several brilliant scenes. Went a little too heavy on the sentiment in parts and at least one of the segments could have been edited out entirely without losing any impact. Still enjoyed the film very much. Even with some of the over the top manipulation, Spielberg did come through with some legitimately heart-wrenching moments. 7.5/10
I loved the movie. My grandfather was in WW1 in France as a U.S. army trumpeter, and the scene where they played the bagpipes in the trenches before the charge reminded me of his stories of how back in that war, the trumpeters and band players often were in the front line for the charge. Story reminds of once again of how vicious war is. GS
Yeah, even with a PG-13 rating, Spielberg was still able to get across the hell that war is pretty effectively. I won't give the scene away, but I really liked how they pulled off the cavalry charge against the Germans.
A collection a great scenes but nothing more, if they ran with one of the many different stories this movie could be something special..
Except the one with the old man and the annoying little girl. That section should have been cut out entirely.
A girl and her horse. For some reason they felt the need to insert that in somewhere. Funny, at the very end she was nowhere to be seen. They knew that little shit had to be killed off with as little acting as possible.
