    PBF vs Canelo
    1. Canelo does not deserve such a large payday
    2. PBF vs anybody not called Pacman does not interest me.
    3. HBO would hype the shit out of it, it would be at 150, and annoy me even more.

    PBF vs Guerrero

Pretty much as above. No interest.

    PBF vs Cotto
I 'm interested, the exception to the rule- not because it would involve Floyd taking a risky fight, it is in fact yet another fight that Floyd delayed unnecessarily, but rather because I have want to see Cotto get the payday he has always deserved. He fought a brace of guys that Floyd hasn't, or won't, and fought a much better Shane. Cotto is one of boxings good guys and deserves the cash. It angers me because Floyd would get more money and more recognition than he deserves for fighting a guy he should have fought ages ago.

    PBF vs Khan.

Yawn. Floyd wins so easily and Khan doesn't deserve it to begin with. Probably not even an easy fight to watch, and Khan doesn't deserve one episode of 24/7 never mind three of them.

At this point, here's how I feel:

-- I'm still angry with PBF (and suspicious that he genuinely wants the fight) for nixing it initially with his unprecendented drug-testing requirements

-- I blame Arum for the current stale-mate and feel that he thinks it's in his best interest not to make the fight

I still don't understand how the blame can fall on the guy who asked for a drug test... and not the guy who balked. It boggles the mind it does.

Probably because it's an unprecented demand, one that is not required by any athletic commission or sanctioning body, and one that neither Pacquiao or any of Floyd's prior opponents were required to do.

If one of Pacquiao's demands was that Floyd had to wear a pink skirt on every episode of 24/7, I'm sure Floyd would balk at that too, or any other unprecedented demand you can think of.

Given their recent comments, I think it's pretty clear that Pacquiao genuinely wants the fight and Floyd doesn't.

I would watch Floyd vs. Cotto and/or Pacquiao vs. Bradley.....

Floyd vs. Khan is a mismatch...and Khan hasn't done SHIT to deserve it. Even if he had gotten the decision vs. Peterson.

Floyd vs. Canelo might be good, but I don't think Canelo is good enough to make it competitive.

Floyd vs. Guerrero THE FUCK??? Guerrero is AVERAGE at 135...why is his name even thrown around?

    Pacquiao vs. Peterson...MISMATCH

Pacquiao/Cotto II..I doubt Cotto can do anything differently.

Pacquiao/JMM IV ..I'm tired of these two fighting each other.

Because it was an unprecedented request that extended beyond the rules set forth by the commissions. And given this, it's to be expected that even a fighter who has nothing to hide would balk at a request like this, simply out of pride.

I know. We'd all be happy if Pacquiao had simply bent to this request (and any other request PBF would've surely piled on) and made the fight. But he didn't. And I can understand why.

    word.

If I was offered a fight for 25M dollars with teh only contingency being that I take a drug test I would laugh and say "this is easy money". Why? Because I'm drug free.

    you're over-simplifying (as per usual).

what matters here is what was offered over and beyond what he made against Margarito, JMM III.

you continue to act like it's 25M or nothing. i'm hoping this is due to intellectual laziness on your part and not capacity.

you're also ignoring the repercussions of complying with such a request, if for example, pacquiao were to have lost.

whether he was drug free or not, it was a bad position PBF put him in. again, you fail to recognize this.

So what? It's a perfectly reasonable request.

I don't know what his motivations are or aren't, but I don't think he wants to fight Floyd at all.

To be fair, I don't think Floyd cares all that much about making the fight either. It seems like in his mind he thinks he doesn't need Pac, and the cadre of yes-men around him is probably reinforcing that notion.

But ultimately I believe if Pacquiao wanted the fight, Arum would be forced to give in, and Floyd woudn't play hardball either.

Neither of them truly want the fight, that's pretty obvious by now.

And in one way you can understand why, they can fight 2 guys who have no chance and make at least as much.

They currently make too much money fighting guys who aren't on their level.

Exactly, Mayweather made it sound like Pac was on the gear, and if Pac would have lost badly vs Floyd ( wich was very conceivable considering he would be the best fighter he ever fought and that he's smaller than him too ) after agreeing with the testing, it would have made him look like a cheat.

Plus, it's also, sadly, an ego trip. Nobody likes to be dictated things, especially coming from someone who calls you a cheat and insult your nationnality and origin. pac was willing to compromise on the testing to save face but Floyd refused the 14 days ( I think ) cut off date wich, realistically, would have made no difference.

Don't get me wrong, Arum don't want the fight either, and that's becoming increasingly clear, and more and more, it seems that Pac doesn't want it too much himself, but let's not act like Floyd wanted it either. He may have changed his mind after JMM III but still, he's still making everything in his power to blow the fight ( setting the date and the venue unilaterraly for example )

There is a vague chance that the first line is true, especially this version of Pacquiao that's more or less shot, but you're 100% wrong on the second.

I've always known Cotto is an easy matchup for Floyd. Average speed, overly patient, small reach. He's Floyd's ideal opponent, he'd win 1 round max.

    In order:

PBF/Cotto - Quite frankly, the only fight that interests me out of the eight mentioned. Was the fight that Floyd wanted years ago, that Arum wouldn't offer (instead shoving Margarito down his throat) and led to the defection. Storylines galore, well beyond the matchup itself. Even sweeter if Cotto left Top Rank in order to make the fight. 10/10

Pacquiao/Bradley - Not crazy about the fight, but Bradley was persuaded to sign w/ Top Rank with the intention of eventually fighting Pac. Would be shitty if Peterson - whom he already dominated - got the fight before him. 7.5/10

PBF/Canelo - If the fight MUST be on Cinco de Mayo, then this makes the most sense. Floyd would gladly take it and not demand a catchweight (unless he did so just to be a prick). Canelo not ready, but quite frankly never will be and might as well take millions now for his troubles while fight is still that lucrative. 7/10

PBF/Khan - Even with the Khan loss, fight still slightly intrigues me if only from perspective of Floyd facing a different Freddie Roach soldier, one that has no problems agreeing to random drug testing (yes Manny has said it, but will believe it when it happens). 5/10

Pacquiao/Peterson - Can never count out Lamont, though I get the sense that in this fight he's bringing a knife to a gun fight. Would rather see Peterson/Khan II first, as well as Pac/Bradley. 4/10

Pacquiao/Cotto II - No interest in this fight. Cotto hasn't improved enough to tell me he'll do better than win maybe 1-2 more rounds than he did in Nov. '09. Not to mention that Pac will once again demand a catchweight. 3/10

Pacquiao/Marquez IV - The third fight was enough. I don't care if they're competitive 100 out of 100 times. Their last fight paled in comparison to the other two. 2/10

PBF/Guerrero - I still don't know how this ever entered discussion. Guerrero's PR team should be given a raise. Thank goodness Schaefer himself dismissed the fight. Guerrero has yet to prove he can effectively compete above 135, has no real fan base and has been out for a year. 0/10

Jake I'm amazed you have Cotto top. Don't think you think he matches up horribly with Floyd?

Like I said in another thread, a slower fighter who is overly patient with a short reach is pretty much Floyd's ideal opponent. I struggle to see Cotto winning a round.

I'd like to see it for the reasons I mentioned. Plus, Floyd would most likely go up to 154 for the fight, and not demand Cotto come in at 148 or some bullshit. I agree, I think Floyd railroads him.

There isn't another fight on the list that's worth the price of admission and I think boxing has invested enough in waiting for Floyd and Manny to fight each other. If they don't fight in May, then their next respective fights will mark the 7th and 8th PPV offered since the time the fight was seriously discussed.
