He shouldn't bitch to this level. Unless Peterson wins the Pacquaio sweepstakles the most money out there for him is the Khan rematch. Would you expect Peterson to jump at the first offer thrown at him?

    No

He's supposed to say he's looking elsewhere before a Khan rematch.

even if peterson takes an interim fight and loses for less money the khan rematch isnt going anywhere. will still be a payday for peterson in england

Your post reeks of bias against Khan.

I would expect Peterson to jump at the rematch. If he retreats, it should be because the money isn't good enough. That's when negotiations begin, not at the initial challenge, at least not in these circumstances.

Let's not forget that Lamont Peterson is basically a nobody and his style is unlikely to ever make him a draw. He's got the Rahman/Lewis thing going right now and he should cash out. Rahman screwed that up and probably lended up missing out on $10 million because of it.

Lamont is sort of in the position Vince Phillips was after he beat Tszyu. Vince did the right things at that stage, but Tszyu went bitch on him and eventually Vince fizzled out and never cashed in. Peterson has the name fighter begging for a rematch. Take advantage of it and if you win again, he actually might turn into a draw.

His style is perfectly entertaining. Where do you get the idea his style is a liability?

DeGale is a better boxer than Khan. Khan is a better athlete.

I honestly think Groves won clearly. He controlled the fight, won the boxing match, and I don't think either guy really did any damage. Groves landed more punches and controlled the action.

As much as I detest Khan I think Khan Vs Peterdude is a fight that could have gone either way, I wouldn't bitch if Khan got that decision, but I scored that fight for Groves clearly.

From watching many of his fights with his 'hup! hup!' with each punch and not being able to crack an egg. Even though his style was more watchable with Khan, it doesn't erase everything else.

And if you find him perfectly entertaining, great. However, the guy has over 30 fights, he's an american, he's been on tv multiple times and even hbo more than once, and he still isn't a draw of any note. This strongly implies that his style is not perfectly entertaining to many, if not most.

I think he's a pretty good draw in D.C., judging from the crowd at the Khan fight.

Besides, I'm not arguing that he's a star or even a top name at this point. I'm speaking to his potential to become one. You seem to think he has no hope of becoming anything, and he should just be grateful that someone as great as Khan is willing to share the ring with him. I disagree with that characterization is all I'm saying.

Ironically, and I mean this.........the guy Groves is probably all-round better opponent than ANYONE Khan has ever fought. Groves is not "the truth" by any stretch of the imagination.....but he's no worse than Maidana or Peterson are.

I agree, DeGale is right now and maybe forever, pretty much an EBU level fighter....but 7 years ago, Khan doesn't even get a look in at EBU level, because he'd have to fight Thaxton, Hatton, Urkal, Witter and the like and that pretty much puts paid to his career in any case.

This is a guy, remember, who has never fought for an EBU or Lonsdale title- and with good reason- every fight he takes he runs the risk of losing it, to the severe detriment of his earning power, which is what this twat is all about. Money IS his legacy.

Groves did not win clearly bro, even if you think he won, it was by a round or two at most.

You can save this post, I'll say it now, if DeGale-Groves have a rematch, Chunky stops him. Mark my words. The few occasions he really let his hands go, Groves was all over the place, and he knows it. Remember this post.

I think out of that list, Khan has a field day with Thaxton, who quite honestly just wasn't very good. I think he beats Witter who had a tendency to just zone out and let rounds slip. He'd have to watch out he doesn't get caught with anything but he beats Witter. Urkal gives him nightmares though.

Got news for you, boxers are athletes. At the end of the day, Khan is the superior fighter, and it isn't close.

Of course they are, and Khan is the superior fighter right now. He's won a world title and been one of the top 2 in his weight class, DeGale has had 13 fights. It isn't fair to compare them right now, time will tell.

Honestly though in a P4P matchup I think Khan would probably 10-2 DeGale.

Fair enough. I read that the crowd was a bit less than 9,000 for the Khan fight. That's very decent. I'm saying that's mostly due to Khan even though the fans were cheering for Peterson. We'll see. He doesn't have much competition for fans in DC, that's for sure.

hahaha...I like the statement by the IBF...here's mY summary...

We are shady. We been caught. We need a spin. We gonna throw this all on Mustafa Ameen. He shady. We ain't. Anything done wrong is all on Mustafa. We have integrity. We barely know Mustafa. IBF has integrity. IBF never does anything shady.

meanwhile, in other unrelated IBF news, Zab Judah is one fight away from another IBF mandatory title shot at junior welterweight, presumably ahead of Amir Khan.

    Oh yeah.

And yet you persist to place a large amount of gravitas on sanctioning bodies mikE?

Of course. Only the naive, ignorant, or stupid don't.

Just as only the naive, ignorant, or stupid would think that this means I also believe sanctioning bodies are beyond reproach.

Sanctioning bodies mean nothing at all these days, they're all basically alphabet soups.

Only the naive, ignorant or stupid would place any gravitas on them at all.

I'm glad you learned a new word and all, but the importance of sanctioning bodies within the sport is undeniable.

It was undeniable. That changed when you started getting recognised champs of a division that didn't even hold a belt.

Hopefully they get boycotted and phased out soon.

Who are you referring to? Pacq at feather? Hopkins at light heavy? Foreman at heavy? Holmes at heavy? Those examples are fleeting and only exist because they serve financial purposes of entities like HBO. The times it happens are exceptions to the rule and are too infrequent to do anything other than prove the rule.

If sanctioning bodies ever get phased out, then you head-in-the-sand ostriches will finally get what you want. That hasn't happened now--which means you are wrong now--and I'll be very surprised if it ever happens. I've never figured out a workable, feasible alternative to sanctioning bodies, but if they ever happen to become phased out we'll see what happens.
