Seriously. Chavez Jr. is so protected, and his skills so below par with any other fighter in history who got the exposure he's getting, it's sickening.

Chavez Jr. is the very definition of over-hyped. He's a T.R. creation and nothing more.

And let's not forget, that as carefully as he's been managed, he still managed to look shitty enough against a nobody that the judges, who have given him every benefit of the doubt, had no choice but to score it
    a draw.

I can't wait to see him get brutalized. And I mean brutalized. I'd like to see him take a pummeling and appear as a bobble-head doll as his senses are taken from him and he's reduced to a pile on the canvas. It's guys like Chavez Jr. who bring out a sadistic side of me, in the name of boxing justice.

Martinez is clearly the most avoided fighter in boxing. Fighters are scared to say his name.

De La Hoya should come out of retirement and whoop him. He already whooped the daddy now whoop the sonny and add insult to injury whoop their mom and put her dress on and with a cool strut walk those high heels into the sunset.

that'd be fucking awesome. as devastated as his reputation is, he could redeem himself by beating that punk. and you know he could if he could get in shape.

I can understand Sergio's frustration over this guy ducking him and talking smack. Junior is simply not a very good fighter, and will get crushed in a few rounds by Sergio, and Junior and his daddy know it. Speaking of Chavez Sr.: I was sitting two seats behind him in Houston and was shocked. Andy Rooney once wrote that you should never meet your heroes, and I was somewhat taken aback at how small and frail Chavez is, he can't stand over 5'4-5'5 and was very light. He looked like a bludgeoning monster on the television screen for all of those years, but in reality he is a very little man that walks with a slight limp with a hairpiece on, as is Barrera who appears even smaller than him.

You don't know what's happening? What's happening is that Martinez happens not to be promoted by Top Rank. It's fucking bull-shit but the WBC is playing along.

Man I hope Rubio knocks that fucker out.

Ohh what bullshit...Is Cotto moving up to 160...or are they coming down to 154.

Cotto is at the end of his career, if Arum doesn't want to negotiate with GBP or Mayweather, then Cotto should leave him. Cotto moving up to 160 is DUMB....Cotto fighting Rubio is DUMB....

Cotto should be thinking...Canelo, Chavez Jr, Mayweather, or Pacquiao...MONEY..MONEY...and more money....and NOT having to move up or down(Pac) to fight...stay at 154

Well, most recently the WBC has said that Chavez must face Martinez, but that he's allowed to first face Rubio. This allows Jr. to buy time and possibly for Martinez to pursuit other endeavors.

Top Rank will probably work with Martinez's promoter in the meantime and try to pay him off. If he can't be, Chavez will probably vacate, citing a big fight with the likes of Cotto as more important than defending his champioship against the most deserving opponent.

Cotto moves up. Some other sanctioning body steps forward, willing to sanction the bout for its title (assuming the WBC actually strips Chavez which is in no way given).

All the while, HBO continues to televise.

But this could all be nipped in the bud, and let's hope it does, if Rubio manages to beat Chavez.

I think Rubio's a better fighter, and that doesn't say much for Chavez, but he is considerably smaller, and presumably vulnerable as a result.

With Taylor and Pavlik possibly on their way back, Williams, Lara too, there's plenty of compelling fights at 160 if Top Rank would just get out of the way. As it is, it appears the plan is to bolster Chavez's reputation with a win over a significantly smaller and aging opponent (Cotto), and then to carry on the charade.

For me, it's not about seeing the fight. It's about putting Chavez in his place, and for him to compete with guys at the level he claims to be and to earn his status.

I agree, but I doubt Rubio can do it.

After he was cold cocked in a few seconds by Kofi Jantuah, I saw him a couple of weeks later in Houston and he still didn't appear to be cognizant of what was going on.

I agree. I think Rubio is too small and therefore too fragile to beat Chavez. But he will be one of the hardest punchers Chavez will have faced (isn't that pathetic?) So there's a chance he could hurt him, no?

He won't answer any specific questions about Martinez in person, either.

I'll fire some his way in a few weeks at the post-fight with Rubio if he wins.
