I thought that as soon as I wrote the post.

I don't know though, Floyd is no Ishida :kidcool:

But really, I retract that statement, Kirkland's chin is awful. Even Floyd's sub average power at 154, combined with speed and accuracy would be enough to take Kirkland out.

I think Kirkland would give Floyd some early scares through sheer size/strength/aggression, but would get taken out mid/late.

If Floyd did fancy nutting up and fighting Martinez at 160, Kirkland could be an interesting test of fighting a significantly bigger guy with good power.

Pretty much, but he'd put up a much better fight than Ortiz.

Kirkland at the least would not implode emotionally like Ortiz has a habit of doing. He'd make it entertaining and go down swinging.

I dont see Floyd taking a fight with Martinez.

kirkland would knock mayweather jr out. if his chin was as bad as the ishida fight showed he would have lost to angulo.

Nobody seems to want anything to do with Martinez. he has to be the most avoided fighter to date. Allot of you may disagree with me but if I were Cotto I would try to get Martinez @154. He has mentioned he was willing to do it against PBF I believe. It's a gamble but if Cotto wins it would be BIG!

Oddly, there are multiple people here who give you shit for being a Pac ballsucker, whereas you're the only person who goes on about me being a Floyd nuthugger.

I said several times long prior to this that the only reason I felt like Floyd didn't care about the fight was that he wasn't calling out Pac. You take his calling out Pac as evidence he doesn't want the fight; those who don't have their heads up their asses (or Pac's) see it differently.

Evidence he DOESN'T want the fight? Of course not, I simply think it means nothing, I think he didn't want the fight before, and he still doesn't really want the fight. You really place that much weight on some silly words? On twitter no less? If he really wanted the fight, it would be done properly at the negotiating table, with a legit offer, not "Hey Punk, may 5th, you a punk!".

Like I said, Pacquiao called Floyd out after Marquez, but I think it was just as empty as Floyd's recent antics, you didn't see me jumping up and down going "Oh look, see that! Manny wants the fight! Ball's in Floyd's court now!".

Neither want to fight each other, which is why the whole thing is pathetic.

Before I defended Pacquiao for 2 reasons, first I believe in innocent until proven guilty, and second I believed it was mainly Floyd who didn't want the fight.

It's pretty clear now they are both bitches and have no real desire to fight each other.

When I think back about the no holds barred willingness of the Fab 4 to literally fight anyone, it's quite sickening how these 2 have danced around each like little girls for 2 years.

arum keeps harping on this guarantee that mayweather jr would need. why???? the fight is going to do well . can someone explain what this means. if mayweather jr accepts a 50% cut of the pie then what the fuck is arum referring to?

Isn't the guarantee, the purse? I think what Arum is saying is that if he's expected to pay PBF a purse that large, then he'll need a share of PBF's revenue. Usually, it's the fighter who has to negotiate if he wants revenue above and beyond his purse. In this case, it's the promoter, or co-promoter, who needs to negotiate a portion of PBF's share of the revenue. This seems rather obvious when you think about it, but we have to keep a couple of things in mind:

    1. Arum assumes we're idiots
    2. Arum's willing to spin things any way he needs to to successfully argue his case
    3. PBF's expectations aren't necessarily reasonable

its pretty simple to me. mayweather promotions and/or golden boy get 50% and top rank gets the other 50% hbo gets their 50% off the top of the ppv. what needs to be negotiated ?

Because Arum's referring to the case in which GBP is not involved.

Sounds like PBF wants a purse, but wants to keep his half of the revenue too. That simply isn't reasonable if that's truly what he expects.

He wants someone to say "No matter what you get X amount of money" Somewhere in the 40M range I am guessing. he claims he made 40m fighting Ortiz.

But it sounds like PBF wants a percent of the sale in addition. At least, that's what Arum seems to be suggesting.

And so what Arum's saying, if I have this correct, is, "okay, you can have your $40MM, but if I'm going to guarantee you that, then I'll need a bigger piece of the back-end action in order to make it worth my while."

Basically, Arum's saying he's not going to put up purse money, which is guaranteed regardless of sales, if he can't earn a correspondingly bigger piece of the up-side if there is any.

I think what makes this confusing is that it seems like a given that a promoter who puts up a purse be entitled to a share of the revenue. But for one reason or another, Arum's found it necessary to be explicit about it.

Why would Arum work for free? He's a promoter, and if he is to promote for Floyd he will need to get paid. Floyd needs to seek a guarantee from HIS promoter, Arum really has nothing to do with this as he doesn't promote Floyd.

And yes, he's looking to get at least his guarantee, in the case that the PPV doesn't do as well as he hopes. If it does better, obviously he will get paid more than he was guaranteed.

this is a bunch of bullshit. i find it extremely hard to believe mayweather jr will demand a guarantee. the fight will do HUGE numbers. what type of guarantee would he want? 60 million? ridiculous. arum is full of shit.

Arum's comments assume he'd be the promoter. Apparently, Arum is now proposing he promote it, without GBP. PBF, as I understand it, has worked closely with GBP to promote his fights, but has a promotional company of his own.

Thing about a guarantee is that it doesn't come free in the sense that if he requires a guarantee, then he will have to cough up some of the up-side he would otherwise expect to get.

I'm grasping at straws here with my take on the matter, not knowing a whole lot about what Arum's offered and what PBF requires, knowing only that Arum indeed proposed he promote it under the condition that some of PBF's revenue be forfeited if he requires a guaranteed purse.

Why do you find it extremely hard to believe? Do you think PBF promotions (or whatever you call it) actually knows how to promote a fight? If it did, it wouldn't need GBP or Top Rank. If I'm PBF, and I understand that my promotional company doesn't know shit, and I'm at the mercy of some other promoter when it comes to selling my fight, I'm going to prefer a guarantee, as long as it's a sufficiently large percent of what I would otherwise get, if I were to roll the dice on the up-side.

The fight sells itself, all they need is HBO. The mainstream media is going to be all over it.

and here's where the confusion lies: has PBF indeed requested a guarantee, as Arum seems to suggest?

Okay. Based on recent news, GBP is definitely in play. I don't know where I got the idea TR might promote it alone, if not from Arum.

Sounds like the venue and date is the current point of contention.

Freddie the joke Roach on PTI using all the Top Rank excuses. This is one of the most shameful duck jobs that i can remember, well since Chavez ducking Martinez another fighter trained by Roach and promoted by Arum.

It really is. Why Pacquiao and team won't call what's in all likelihood a bluff on PBF's part is beyond me.

It's a shame. If the fight gets made, we'd have at least the chance to see PBF in the opposite situation he was in against Corrales. He'd be the one heading to jail. This is Pacquiao's chance! What the fuck!
