"I called him and asked him about us fighting May 5 and giving the World what they want to see," Mayweather's email read. "I also let him know we both can make a lot of money. He ask about a 50/50 split and I told him no that can't happen, but what can happen is you can make more money fighting me then you have made in your career. I also let him know I'm in control on my side but he needs to get on the same page with his promoter so we can make this fight happen."

    Here:
However, Mayweather provided details of his conversation with Pacquiao in an email to ESPN anchor Stan Verrett.
"I called him and asked him about us fighting May 5 and giving the World what they want to see," Mayweather's email read. "I also let him know we both can make a lot of money. He ask about a 50/50 split and I told him no that can't happen, but what can happen is you can make more money fighting me then you have made in your career. I also let him know I'm in control on my side but he needs to get on the same page with his promoter so we can make this fight happen."

and at about 1:45 of the video with Roach...Roach claims Floyd is asking for 70/30.

Since they agreed upon 50/50 about 3 minutes into the negotiations back when this shit all started, and that's when Floyd's argument that he should get more had a speck of merit, I would be very disappointed if he shifted his position now. This is a 50/50 purse fight now without any doubt. Everyone knows it. Everyone. So I'm interested in seeing if there is any validity to Floyd now wanting more than 50/50. If he is, he can go f himself. I will be very interested in seeing how he justifies getting more than 50/50 because I just don't see it.

Pac vs JMM 3 1.4m PPV buys
Floyd vs Ortiz 1.25m PPV buys

    Just saying.

Sorry guess I was looking at the wrong article. It isn't in the article you quoted from Pascals Wagner.

Terribly disappointing. As mikE says, there was a point in time when you could make a semi-valid argument that Floyd should make a tad more money in the purse split, but that time is LONG gone. This fight deserves a 50/50 split.

I can't recall such a time. But I think we're all in agreement, if there ever was one, it's over now.

    PBF expecting more than 50%?

Neither of them want the fight. That's apparent. What's happening right now, with the phone calls, etc., is simply that they're promoting their next fights which in all likelihood are already finalized.

Yay. We get to see back-to-back PBF and Pacquiao fights again!

It wasn't accepted by everyone as being conclusive, but the discussion came up about who brought more to the ppv table and the ppv numbers that the fighters had generated in the past favored Floyd.

Pretty sure the thread was at this site.

Edit: Fightnews is reporting the same stuff we are talking about. I expect that we will hear from Floyd shortly and he will claim this is all bullshit and that he never said this. That's mY hunch. This is more like a contrived controversy than a legit one, I think.

Yeah there was a debate about it a while back. I actually was on the Mayweather side based on his stronger PPV numbers, but even then only by a little bit and the whole point is that even the most ardent Mayweather supporters have to concede this is a 50/50 fight now

    Home Page:
Was reported this morning on Sportscenter. Supposedly Floyd sent an e-mail to Stan Verrett (sp?) who was seeking comment, and stated that he told Pac while 50/50 couldn't happen, that he would still be making more than he has in his entire career.

    Time...to...move...ON

It's a quote, isn't it? That suggests PBF isn't okay with 50/50? It's unlikely the quote is fabricated, isn't it?

Floyd is a bitch. 50/50 is fair. Nobody's ego is hurt.

It's pretty sad that even when PBF is clearly dealing with his peer in the sport, a guy who's probably more famous than he is and who earns just as much per fight, that he finds it necessary to delude himself into thinking he's in some sort of position of authority to ask for more than 50%.

Yeah. Pacquiao/Bradley is pretty compelling. And PBF/Martinez would certainly be a pick 'em in a lot of people's minds. But fuck PBF/Alvarez, Guerrero, Ortiz or whatever other shit GBP comes up with.

That's another reason PBF is an asshole and an idiot for expecting more than 50%. He's the one without an alternative viable opponent. At least Pacquiao has Bradley and Cotto to choose from. Who the fuck is PBF going to fight?

Yeah. Becoming harder and harder to be a boxing fan. That's for sure. Thank God for Erik Morales.

I'm telling you...Floyd will say this is not accurate and that he didn't ask for more than 50/50. I know it's quoted and all, but this just isn't right. 50/50 was agreed to instantly back in dec 09, and we've gone over 2 years with this never being brought up again. It has to be a ploy, straw man, misstatement...something. Floyd just can't be so stupid to make this demand now when he has a majority of fans on his side against Arum.

[Jake...I'll get back to that definitive champ thread sometime, but too busy now]

Yawn. Like I said, they are both being bitches really, neither one wants the fight. Anyone who doubts that is a fool.

Take Arum out of the equation, the fight still doesn't happen.

That's what I'm starting to think too. Floyd can't be stupid and delusionnal enough to refuse 50-50, but if it's true, I don't want anyone hear again that Pacquiao avoided the fight, he basically bended forward and yet, Floyd alway's have a new condition

Floyd is without question the bigger draw, that's been established over multiple PPVs. However, he has to know that 50/50 is going to be expected of him in this fight and he has to know that's also going to be a crazy amount of money. He was on board with it before and if he's backing off now, then fuck him.

Fuck him and Manny both. Both fucking punks.
