I bet Wlad would do great. He's very athletic and all aspects of mma would come pretty easy to him. Especially tapping.

James Toney and Ray Mercer picked this skill up quickly. Wlad can too.

I still find it hillarious that Kimbo in his first mma fight beat Ray with a guillotine choke off his back after taking him down none the less. Where was this ground game in fights 2 + LOL

Put up a poll and we'll see.

Based upon everything you know, does the UFC

    1. Underpay its fighters

    2. Overpay its fighters

    3. I don't know enough to guess

or put up a poll that says

    Trplsec and Anthony

    1. are objective when it comes to the UFC

    2. are biased UFC shills who suck Dana's cock like well-paid whores

That will give us some real evidence as to how this argument is going for you, won't it? Actually, you will probably dismiss it because it wasn't scientifically done and verified by a team of scholars from the London School of Economics.

Why would i post a poll like that? This is thread about MMA discussion. Not your bias against Dana white.

You asked me to provide you with my opinion on if the UFC fighters are underpaid. I told you i dont know enough to answer your question. I think anyone with a brain that reads this entire thread and realizes the UFC has many more expenses that a normal promoter, will agree with me.

Who gives a damn if the UFC underpays its fighters. This argument is getting old.

The only intelligent stance in this debate is the one that understands that none of us know enough to really say what UFC fighters should get paid.

BUT, as I've said, they are getting paid enough for THEM to sign contracts of their own, free will. So for me that's good enough.

    End of argument.

Glad you have the confidence to show how badly I lost the argument, Anthony, haha.

Pay to fighters IS mma discussion.

I already showed it. It's clear as day. You want me to give you a number that you wont even give yourself. What do you think is a good number to pay GSP?

Most likely it is something in vicinity to what a similarly situated boxer would receive.

    For example, Cotto Margarito 2...

    Reported fight earnings

Promoter Bob Arum revealed that Cotto will be paid $5 million plus a larger percentage of the $54.95 pay-per-view sales for fighting Margarito on Dec. 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where Cotto is 6-0 and is anticipated to draw a heavy crowd of supporters. Margarito, said Arum, will be paid $2.5 million plus a smaller pay-per-view percentage than Cotto.[21]
    • Miguel Cotto $5,000,000 vs. Antonio Margarito $2,500,000
    • Brandon Rios $325,000 vs. John Murray $50,000
And this was for a ppv that reportedly did fewer than 600,000 ppv buys.

There is no reason GSP, on a ppv where he was pretty much the sole attraction, should be receiving less than Cotto received where he was not the sole attraction since Margarito brought a lot of interest to the table.

    Do the poll, chicken.

Nope, in MMA there are a ton of great fights currently scheduled to talk about as well as some great recent fight. Plenty to talk about.

Only you want to have an uninformed discussion about pay. Just dumb.

What PPV was GSP on where he was the sole attraction? That being said, you posted a link with a Quote from GSP where he claimed he gets 5 million a fight correct? What was your problem with pay again?

Also Cotto vs. Marg didnt do fewer than 600k buys, it did 600k buys.

No shit. This is MMA. GSP's last fight card which was headlined by his fight with Jake Shields also featured a ton of other good fights including the Aldo-Hominick title fight and Randy Couture versus Lyoto Machida.

If you believe the speculation about Couture's deal with the UFC, he pulled down close to $2.5 million for this bout. The rumor is GSP, all told, probably made between $4-5 million.

I think the UFC also handed out over $350,000 in JUST award bonuses (Fight, Sub and KO of the night). Are you kidding me? How would you like to be the unranked, unknown, Pablo Garza pulling down a $129K bonus for Sub of the Night in your 2nd UFC bout...

    :giggle::giggle::giggle: IT'S ROBBERY!!!!!!!!

Mike is so in over his head......

(By the way, as I've said multiple times, these numbers are rumored and reported. None of us can confirm either way)

when you have steve_dave seemingly arguing on my side, you better do some soul-searching. You guys are running like chickenshits.

Put up the poll and see how convincing you've been in this thread. You asked how much, I answered, and then you went all bitch on mE. Again. And Again.

You two, otoh, haven't done anything except toe the UFC line like a couple of shills. Again. And Again.

    Oh, and more on GSP

    5) UFC 111 - 850000 buys
Headliners: Georges St-Pierre vs Dan Hardy, Frank Mir vs Shane Carwin

The UFC's only sure-fire moneymaking non-heavyweight, GSP, delivered the goods at UFC 111.

    4) UFC 124 - 875000 buys
Headliners: Georges St-Pierre vs Josh Koscheck, Stefan Struve vs Sean McCorkle

Who knew that Sean McCorkle was such a box office draw?!

Now compare that to the Cotto Margarito 2 PPV mentioned above. Those ppv buy rates are solely due to GSP. and get got perhaps $4 or $5 Million. Pathetic.

Negative. Cdogg and I will often agree, that's fair. We both have a fairly solid grasp of the boxing game.

Please, you've had your ass handed to you in this thread. As I said, you are in way over your head.

And the day I shy away from an MMA discussion with SD is the day I quit posting here.

I'm not even taking sides here, I was just pointing out some BS you were spewing. :kidcool:

I don't really know anything about cage fighting PPV buys, revenues, pay structure etc...

Dude, seriously, GSP was right behind Lesnar as the biggest draw in MMA. No one is debating that. In fact, I am pretty sure I just had a debate with RJJ or someone as to GSP being able to fill a stadium as well as the Klitschkos.

So what's your point? That GSP making $4 to $5 million is pathetic?

OK, fine, you think he should make more despite not having any idea as to the UFC expenses or revenue. You have my permission to be an idiot and make that claim.

For me, I am going to withhold passing judgement because I really don't know what the UFC currently pays their fighters in total nor do I know how they can balance revenue when a GSP card sells 800K PPV's followed by a Edgar-Maynard PPV that does 240K...

Again, what should GSP make in your opinion?

Cotto vs. Margarito did a 3.5 mil live gate and 600k ppv buys. Cotto walked away with 5mil for the fight.

UFC 111 did 4mil live gate and 850,000 ppvs. (according GSP) walked away with 5mil

UFC 124 did 4.6 live gate and 800k PPVs. (according to GSP) walked away with 5mil.

    UFC has:
Front Office expenses in the US.
    Front Office expenses in Canada
    Front Office expenses in UK
    Fighters Insurance
    Bonuses
    Advertisements all over the world
The Cost of trying to get MMA legalized in NY.
    Cameras
    Setup
    Travel
    Production
29 fighters get a perentage of PPV
    International expansion costs
The Big Boxing shows also charge more for PPV than the UFC

Take all of that in consideration and GSP getting the same as Cotto is a fucking sweet deal. I cant imagine anyone but you disagreeing with that.

He mentioned the amount cotto was getting but seemed to forget he already showed GSP gets the same Cotto got:atu:

So now he thinks GSP should get more because they did more PPV buys. Despite having other expenses that Cotto's promoter doesnt have.

Please, the minute Bob Arum employees over 1000 people; puts on an average of 1.5 PPV's per month; has a TV deal; pays fighter insurance for 600-700 fighters; stacks undercards; etc.........

Nevermind, I really can't say 'apples to oranges' even 1 more freaking time.
