I sincerely doubt it. We pay 600 to share a two bedroom that would make a spirit level explode with a family of pigeons
:: Thats how I see it too. Although is your 600 squid inclusive of bills and council tax? That seems a bit steep, even when compared to London standards, for a 2-bed.
Have to imagine that's 415 for a room (still good). A flat like that would be at least 850 in Glasgow
That would make sense, and that would be very sneaky advertising. Couldn't live with people I don't know, never making that mistake again.
Nah, 300 each before council tax (110) & bills. Couldn't do any better in the west end, we tried. I buy a book a month, look at a picture of somewhere sunny in a magazine and those are my treats for the month.
Nah never fancied that. Bedsits are alright on shortish term basis. Dunno about your sister and her man though, potential for weirdness there
Seen. It works out well for me either way as it'll be a 2-bed split between 3 people which lowers it all to a reasonable level. I'll end up paying less than I am now.
Na we're all cool, I always meet up with them during the week for drinks and he's sound as a pound, a good mate. Besides I'm usually out and about so I wouldn't actually be there all that much.
Crazy prices you guys are quoting. Move up north (or come south, Hut ::). The mortgage on my house is £550 a month. MTF
 No man, don't put that image in my head bro, they just hold hands...that's all it is... ::
:: Actually, it wasn't in mine until I realised in November that I was paying exactly the same amount in rent that I would be paying for a mortgage. Made the whole thing a no-brainer, really. The prices you lot pay in London for digs is absolutely crazy: for £800 a month here you could buy a four bed detached house. MTF
Have you looked into the (FFFUUCCKKKINNGG) HMO issues re: living with two people, Slice. Do before you go for the viewing. Up here you need a license for that and the price generally jumps about 40-50% for HMOd properties. You can always lie of course
Housing Multiple Occupiers license or some shite. Landlords need to get their house safety checked and altered if they're renting to more than 2 people and the price generally jumps up to fuck. Me & my two mates had a place for 550 in Govan lined up last year before we found out about this pish. Wouldn't let us move in and the cheapest licensed place we could find was 900 and one of the rooms was a fucking ironing cupboard. Power. Of. Shite. *****Slice - just remembered if two people are related they count as one, you'll be fine with your sister. (yes the law makes that little sense......if you have a house with 15 children thats fine because it's no safety risk but 3 grown men would presumably have no idea how to escape a fire and char)
Aye, if its the same as here, you'll be fine since you're related. But best to check it first so if it's different you can have just two of you go up, be on the paperwork, etc.
What the fuck?!?!?! :: I actually laughed out loud when I read that, fucking hell, the property laws in this country are insane
Aye, it's the Shitest law in the history of the west. North Korean level idiocy. I could send myself into a rage all over again over this......
Just looking into this HMO stuff, cheers for the heads up again Hut. At a quick glance it looks ok as we're related, like you pointed out, will check to see if there are any hidden snags.
I wish we coulda moved into that place. It'd been decorated by a granny in the 70s but the rooms were like concert halls & I'd easily be saving £120 a month.
There's nice residential bits dotted around everywhere, but most of them are boring as fuck. Places you go to settle down with weans and your 4x4. West end is where the young people are, basically. Anywhere between the city center and Partick on the east/west axis and from the river to the start of maryhill the other way (the edges are obviously a bit rougher/cheaper). 2 miles squared maybe. Further west or north and it starts getting medieval. My brother stays in Yoker and always slags me cause he's saving 50 quid a month. I'd pay 50 quid to avoid having to visit Yoker once :: Silly cunt. 'Welcome to 1894, if you proceed a further 500 yards back into the past you'll find our one row of shops. Off license, Chippy, Bookie & parki-shop - all with barred up windows'. City centers good too.
I just bought my house: two bedroom, semi detached stone house with back garden for £105,000. Seriously. For £800 month you could buy one twice as big. Cheapest house prices in the UK up here. Couldn't and wouldn't, pay the prices you lot pay. MTF
