I felt like watching it last night, but watched rise of the planet of the apes instead. Think i'll watch it now.
It was cheesy and stupid, predictable and of course it had 21st century Hollywood/American values projected onto Thor. eg., Thor comes down to Earth from Asgard after being an arrogant demigod in an 11th century Nordic culture, and the next day he's making people scrambled eggs and serving them. The gags are lame sitcom type shit designed for the lowest common denominator, the dialogue is overly dramatic and cliched, etc etc. AWFUL movie. It might be worth seeing in the theater if you're really into action or effects or whatever, the movie does have some presence in that sense. The important components - or at least the components that are important to me - were all terrible, though.
Didn't see the film, and have no interest in doing so, but your response made me giggle as I thought of when Terminator 3 came out and my sister asked me if I was going to see it... I said "Fuck that noise... You know, they are going to have Schwarzenegger say "fo shizzle my nizzle" or something equally ridiculous in his german cyborg accent...":giggle:
But how can you get a comic-book onto the screen without making it so? I know what you mean though about the cheesy/stupid/predictable - but what to do? What audience do you target? :dunno:
To each his own. I loved it. The characters were great. You gotta love Odin and Heimdal. Thor and Loki were badass! Good acting all round. Decent plot. Tremendous flick as comic book flicks go. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, I may go and watch it again tonight!
