All I'm saying that The Vatican may be the richest and most powerful entity on the planet and my sphere of influence and wealth is infinitesmal compared with it...but IMO...I know the Bible better than they do and so I can quite happily say that the opinions of Catholic Priests on matters of Christian doctrine matter not to me....unless they happen agree with me.

So I'll not use the word "authority" but stand by the above position.

It's attachment to this kind of ethnocentric nonsense that'll pull Christianity under with the ship.

Christianity is supposed to be offensive to the godless masses but with the few, who are the called, that would hear the voice. It's not supposed to change with the times. If it were to change with the times it wouldn't be real as God doesn't change.

Jesus said he came to DIVIDE between Father and Son and Mother and Daughter etc. Don't take my word for it, read it in the Bible. Christians are supposed to be separate from the world. Despised. Hated. Why because they stand for something and wont change regardless of the pressure exerted by the world.

From the time Christianity is deemed modern and acceptable....it would have also died.

Jesus wasn't popular in his day. Why the hell do you think he was Crucified. He annoyed the hell (no pun intended) out of people with his divisive talk. At the same time he welcomed all people to follow him, regardless of their sinful backgrounds and if they were converted he said to sin no more.

Jesus was RADICAL in his day. Of course nowadays everyone wants to pretend that jesus was this sweet santa clause who deemed everything acceptable and said "ho ho ho".

Sly, as the newly self appointed final authority on common sense, I can say definitively that the eternal force threading infinity together doesn't discriminate on the basis that you're Taiwanese or Iranian or Amazonian or born in 1248 or 2184. It doesn't have a 'chosen people' that's retarded. Ergo it can't care what religion you are. Something runs deeper than the squables between people, their tribes & their egos - getting in touch with that (and with it maybe it closer to the 'great force', which surely must run deeper, still) is the point to religion, or there isn't one. It's about transcending the divisive and the petty not entrenching us in it. Thus spake Hutathustra, Pope of common sense, fuck the huns, Shalom.

you know nothing of such things. You speak foolishly.

God doesnt discriminate on race, language or era.....but are you really trying to put religion into the same category?

You are being ridiculous. If God has a will then let his will be done. That is what religion is about at the end of the day, identifying the will of God and following it. If there is a God then of course he has a will, and therefore of course he cares about what a person's beliefs are.

That's not being discriminatory anymore than if governments set laws to follow and punish those who are not following those laws. Men have the ability to find the truth and follow it if they so wish. If they choose to disobey God that's not God being discriminatory. Stop being stupid.

    Define Christianity?

    What values/beliefs make a Christian?

Who in your opinion is a Christian today?

So Sly, let me ask you a question. What stance would you take if one of your children turned out to be gay?

Dude you're too ignorant on this particular subject for me to continue discussing this with you much longer. You have the secular view of religion, expectedly, and as such can only see things through that lens.

"Faith" (Religion) starts within the person. The Person is seeking he truth and is open to truth and willing to shrug off any prior bias. Hence why Jesus said that everyone must come to him as a child (not professing to know it all). With that mentality God will find you in whatever region, era or race you happen to be in....and direct you to understanding of his will. Regardless of this the truth is out there, most just don't care to know it or want to be "controlled" by it. Faith is not supposed to be determined by race or region or time.

Christianity (which means follower of Christ) is essentially this:

Believing that Jesus (the man) was the son of God, Lord/God incarnate (after his Baptism IMO), died for the sins of the whoseover should believe in him.

Then and only then (Belief must come first) the person must repent and be baptized (full immersion) in the name of "Jesus Christ" for the remission of sins. After laying on of hands God is with them (in spirit). The Spirit then leads them into all truth.

    It's as simple as that.

Now this alone is not done or believed by 99% of those who claim to be Christians...mainly because of tradition and partly because they don't understand this.

So who out there is a Christian? There is no one denomination per se...just anyone who follows that.

There is a group known as "Apostolic Pentecostals" as well as another called "The Message" which are the closest to Biblical Christianity though. These are not denominations, per se, but that's the identification.
