It's sad... he had such an expressive face, one of the reasons for his popularity. Even a lot of the people who didn't or don't like him a whole lot (like me) sorta LIKED him, something about the face. All of us react to faces instinctively from the time we are babies. Somebody smiles at you with wide eyes, it's hard to not smile back.

Now, the man is stone-faced, incapable of expression. The opposite of what he was.

Through my journey as a boxing fan I've found it impossible not to like Ali.

 

I dislike him (and even then, I don't REALLY dislike him) for his religious hypocrisy and for what he did to Frazier

That's where I am. I am too young to have 'grown up' with Ali, so i don't have the emotional attachment that many older peeps have, but I've obviously watched many, many of his fights and his skills were incredible. However, I've also had a chance to read, watch and hear about the way he treated Joe Frazier. That was disgusting and has put me off the man as a result.

Yup.

Ali is one of the toughest SOBs ever to get in the ring. He deserves to be rated where he is, the accolades, all of it. He was all man in that ring and yes, he could be loveable and funny and I am not blind to that.

But the stuff with Frazier is sickening.
