He was not some unknown guy that met Ali

 

All I know is the guy got the job done in Leonard's corner. I can remember clear as day Leonard looking beaten, and absolutely finished sitting in his corner after round 11 with Hagler and after round 12 against Hearns.

Certainly Dundee doesn't deserve all the credit as Leonard had great resolve, but Dundee's words were like verbal adrenaline as Leonard was absolutely revived and refreshed as the pivotal next round started in each fight.

It's funny for me though. I am old enough to remember Dundee in the early 70's with Ali and then into the 80's with Leonard. But oddly the moment I will always remember MORE vividly is him being in Foreman's corner for the fight with Michael Moorer and telling Big George at the start of round 10
"You gotta put this guy down, you're behind baby."

Yep, that was some prescient shit right there. Everyone else had big George just needing to stay on his feet to carry a wide, unanimous decision. ::

 

It was memorable because he said it, with 3 rounds left, and George went out and delivered the very same round.

And no one really needed to tell Leonard that he was blowing it against Hearns. Nor did anyone need to tell him that he had 3 minutes left againt Hagler.

But in terms of boxing history and memories, all of them are pretty cool.

 

A classy gentleman who had to shill for the biggest cocksucker of all time. Rest in peace, paisano. Amazing he kept his dignity while keeping company with the vile pedophile Cassius Marcelus Clay.
