I think Condit could score the upset with leg kicks, movement, and pinpoint striking. I'm not totally confident about it, but I think he could pull it off. He has devastating power, and he can adapt when he needs to get the job done. If I were Diaz, I wouldn't mix too many of those pitty-pat punches in with the harder stuff.
i think it's a toss up. condit's offensive arsenal is arguably more diverse with kicks and knees although diaz is obviously the better boxer. condit's also a very good finisher too, so it's going to be interesting when diaz gets dropped at any point during the fight. still, i'm going with diaz to use his reach advantage and bust condit up towards the fourth round or so. Diaz TKO 4 or UD.
It's going to be a tough fight for both of them. I'm going with Diaz by sub or TKO in the 4th or 5th.
I think as easy as Nick is to hit, i see Condit landing a big show like daley did, but being able to finish better. I hope im wrong. I always bet against Nick Diaz.
This card is going to bomb. UFC flooded the market lately and there's nothing about this card to interest casual fans. Diaz unanimous.
That's not the official promo is it ?? It's made by some kid on Sherdo imo as it's obviously two video patched together and the Nick in the video looks younger. Still, it's great
I think you underestimate Nick's popularity. He's not Jones or GSP popular, but the guy has a following. Amazingly at the weigh-in most of the crowd was supporting Diaz. Condit actually got booed. The UFC's cards that coincide with the Super Bowl have been mostly successful in the past. But 3 of the last 4 have involved GSP, Silva or Lesnar. The one that tanked, with about 275,000 buys, was UFC 109 in 2010 that featured the miserable Couture-Coleman main event. I think this card will do a reported 350-500K buys. If Diaz can carry a card to that type of buy rate, I would consider it a success. For the casual fan there isn't much on this card other than the main event. But for the avid MMA fan, this is a great card from the Facebook prelims thru the main event.
Yeah, I'm not sure how any MMA fan wouldn't look forward to Werdum-Nelson. That's a pretty cool match-up. From a strategy standpoint it doesn't get much more interesting than this. Does Werdum want to stand or utilize his slight BJJ advantage? Does Nelson want to gain top position and work his crucifix or does he want to stand and bang with the slightly lesser striker. And Koscheck-Pierce is just a good fight. Like it or not, Josh Koscheck is one of the very best 170 pounders in the world. The dude is an elite wrestler who's developed a very good stand-up game. And Pierce is a guy that's proved he can hang with ANYONE in the division as he's benn in relatively close fights with some of the best guys in the division like Fitch, Hendricks, and Munoz.
Apparently Roy's been working wrestling more than anything else. I think he can get Werdum on his back if he wants. What happens then is why this fight is interesting.
So then we can count on RJJ NOT being in here 10 minutes after the fights are over talking about it being boring card. That's cool.
If I do underestimate his popularity, I do. Based on your numbers and the superbowl perspective, I am saying it will do under 275k buys. I think it is a horrible card in terms of mass appeal. If it does 350k or better buys, I'm definitely wrong.
Ironic that as far as mass appeal this card might not be great, but I'm looking forward to the main event more than any in recent memory. Diaz is always fun to watch, and Carlos should make it exciting. He's pretty legit, and a dynamic striker, and fairly big for the weight too.
I dont know what herb herb dean was smoking giving him a strong warning after the first low blow and than 2 points after the second. That was ridiculous. Herb dean imo has been getting worse as a ref IMO.
Herb Dean is awful and has been for a couple of years at least. I have no idea why this guy has a good rep, he's useless.
