He's been underrated for a while, has Cotto. He's very tidy, puts together lovely combination punches and will fight anyone. The beatings from Cheato and Manny should have finished him, but neither has it seems and he still carries on, exposing shite for what it is and extending the best. A big Cotto fan here.

    37-2, 30 KO's...

Considering WHO Cotto's Fought, that's Really NOT a Ton of Fights...There's Guys Out There w/35-40+ Fights who Still HAVEN'T Faced Even ONE Elite Level Fighter...

Still, for All the "Boxing is DYING" Doom & Gloomers, they Should Stop BITCHING for a Moment & Check Out (or REwatch) Some Miguel Cotto Fights...He's Consistently Given his Sport QUALITY Performances & Events (Win, Lose or Draw) for MORE than a Decade Now...

Floyd is a brilliant fighter. Lets get right down to it. Its the Floyd Mayweather appreciation thread!!! Cotto is basically Sugar Ray Leonard for the 21st Century. 35 wins, 40 of them by KO against 50 of the best fighters ever. It's a measure of how good Floyd really is that he is taking on this dangerous, fresh opponent who is coming off a career-best win vs Hall of Famer {thats the Ophthalmology Hall of Fame} Margarito, another dangerous guy Floyd did well to destroy back when Margarito was fresh. Well done Floyd. I appreciate you and want to show it here, via Cotto.

If Floyd were to fight Cotto, that would be massive.

Does anyone know if this fight is likely to take place soon?

Cotto is a badass. It's a shame the Hatton fight didn't happen at 140, would've loved to have seen that. He does have a fantastic CV though, he was never one of my favourite fighters per se, but I always respected him

This is a good fight Reed, nevermind all those haters who wanted to see it like 10 years ago, its a very very very very very very very very very very very good fight, and I hope Denzel Washington and all the stars come out for it, because it deserves that level of ClienTELE, its a an evening made for pastel-shirted brilliance, fedora's and big titties in the audience. Lets not get hung-up on how its in Vegas and not in The Garden, thats the sort of thing that people who think boxing is dead get involved in, and fuck Larry Merchant, a man who doesn't like JC Junior doesn't like boxing, this is a very very very very very very very good fight. Who is Manny Pacquaio? Who is Manny Pacquaio? Who is Manny Pacquaio? He's the guy who beat the shit out of Cotto like 3 years ago.

Steve, you are stretched across too many threads, reorganize your forces and concentrate on one spot. Otherwise you risk being outflanked and destroyed like in TAAA. 10-4.

Cotto is not a great fighter nor is he underrated. This thread is disgusting. Nor am I doing shtick. Cotto was the best moved fighter ever.It was clever. The only victory in retrospect that looks better is Mosely and I thought it was a draw. You people have a memory of a goldfish. Cotto was a junior middleweight bashing bloated lightweights and their way down. One can argue Pinto and Adullaev were good victories. Judah and Mosely were damn near done.

Cotto is slow of hand and foot. He also has a shaky chin. Cotto is only elite because Boxing blows and no one can fight anymore. If Cotto fought in the 80', He would be a USA Tuesday night fights level fighter. Underrrated=my left nut.

Did you see what happened when Mr. underrated fought one of two fighters in boxing that is actually good. Pacman almost killed him. He was completely dominated.

P.S. Mr.Underrated is about to fight fighter #2 who can fight. Cotto may win an Oscar for the greatest impression of an actor getting battered from pillar to post. Mr. underrated will do fuck all against an actual elite fighter.

Agreed. REED has nailed it, it's rather comical to read these accusations from a guy that has spent years here talking up the fat slobs the Klitchkos were fighting.

As for the thread subject : I've been a Cotto fan since he was fighting the likes of Justin Juuko and Cesar Bazan, still a fan today. I don't expect him to beat Mayweather but I believe it would a story for the ages if he did.

Pretty soon Reed will be world famous. If he says it, it is wrong. It is amazing. I sometimes wonder if he is real. How can someone live, work and reproduce with an I.Q. of 75. I am not joking either.

For the record, I like Cotto. I respect him. I root for him. I used to hate him, but I won't be told by a near illiterate that my am some sort of jokester. I like Gatti too. Find a post where I said he was good or underrated. Cotto is a decent fighter in the worst era ever.

Fuck the Klitschkos!!! Fuck the fat slobs they fought!!!!

    Now, back on topic.

Why is Reed talking up damaged goods???? Why, to make Floydy Woydy look good, of course.

Abdullaev??? Torres? The guy who had him down and hurt bad???

Cotto is less of a threat than old, aged, 39 year old, divorce-money needing Mozley was.

I don't think Reed is thick. My problem is that he thinks everyone else is thick, thats why he rolls on in here, after a Pacquiao induced absence of 10 years, with some bullshit about how we need to appreciate <strike>Floyds Next Opponent</strike> Miguel Cotto.

I mean, look at that resume!!! Look at those names!! Yeah, and two of them put him in hospital and stopped him.

Yeah, but they were cheating, so those beatings never took any toll.

COME ON FLOYD!!!! FIGHT THIS DANGEROUS COTTO DUDE!!!!

I forgot. In Ireland, Reed might not be thick. You nailed the agenda. Anyone that thinks Cotto in 2012 is a good victory for Floyd knows nothing about boxing. Floyd will win every second of this fight.

No he hasn't. Nowhere near as critical.

Besides, thats irrelevant. Bigging up Cotto, at this late, late late stage of the day, with the Pac fight not being made, is weak and subjective.

Everyone knows this fight is a fait accomplit, for all intents and purposes.

Getting on Cotto's balls in an attempt to show otherwise is bullshit. A good resume does not undo a beating. Or two. It doesn't undo the effects of arduous training camps to whip himself into shape for those hard fights he took when Floyd was talking shit. The hard fights with a better Mosley, Pac and twice with Margarito.

When I talked up Cotto, i talked him up sincerely, not as a prelude for Floyd to ride in on.

    That's bull, frankly.

You assume a motive that there is no evidence exists.

I could see if Sly started this thread, but REED? no.

    Fair enough.

Check my comments on Cotto for a true appreciation of the guy. Not some horseshit about his good resume is.

Fuck his resume. His resume involves two hidings, and a couple of near misses.

One of the hidings has two respected forumites arguing that the guilty party may not actually have been guilty.

I appreciate Miguel Cotto too much to accept their version of events.

Nobody who truly appreciates Cotto would make those arguments. A finer appreciation would be that the man cheated and assaulted Miguelito.

His resume, by today's shucking-and-jiving standards, is excellent. Is it not?

He's a willing fighter, win or lose. I think that was the purpose of the thread.

Sometimes you hear a fellow is fighting, maybe you haven't thought about him much recently, and you take a look back at the career and you say "you know, this cat is pretty good" ... I think that is where REED was coming from. But I haven't seen REED type a positive thing about Floyd Mayweather in years, he's criticized him on numerous counts, from his comp to his standing historically as a welterweight.
