I still wouldn't count Donaire out. He's still a dangerous opponent with a lethal left hook.

He just went the distance and struggled with a guy that was beaten down by Arce

Donaire does indeed have a very nice left hook, but it's looked far from lethal recently.

I'd like to see him again at 122 before wondering how he'd do against Gondo, I haven't written him off just yet, he may prove to be legit at 122.

One thing I am very sure of though, based on his recent two fights, is he's nowhere near as good as I thought. Quite a way off Manny and Floyd's level.

rigondeaux by KO. donaire is tooo easy to hit and i doubt he can take the left hand. donaire has a punchers chance, but he should be a 2-1 underdog. objectively

Rigondeaux all the way. Donaire reminds me a lot of De La Hoya, sweet left, not too much of a right, very fast, but a little easier to hit than he should be and not impervious to being backed up either. Rigondeaux is a very very good fighter who takes an interest in his sport. Donaire is well known to be "bored" with boxing, and word has it he came down a lot of weight for the WV2 fight. He busted up handy, suggests a guy who isn't taking care of himself.

Ramos was largely unproven, and rigondeux's perf prior to that was garbage. Why is he evrn in the conversation?

Donaire would win. Donaire would land over and over and Rigondeaux would just be fighting to survive.

Thats how I thought Donaire vs WV2 would play out.

Another thing about Rigondeaux, he seems to have a lot of self-confidence- he beat Cordoba in what was Rigondeaux's 7th fight.

Dunne fought Cordoba in what was Dunne's penultimate fight of 30 fights. Dunne was 28-1 when he came within one clean punch of losing to Cordoba.

That sort of early matching suggests a guy whose talent level is advanced. I like him, he has a dour, gritty air about him and his entire defection routine suggests a guy who wants to get on with things- right as Donaire looks to be losing interest.

Big fight for Rignondeaux to be taking so early in his career and with Donaire such a big name.

I wonder how aggressive Rigondeaux would be if he were tagged earlier...could see him losing a stinker if got caught early doors

Take a look at the Donaire vs WV2 fight for that.....guy actually came out of his shell after being tagged hard with that left towards the end of the third, landed his own left, did well in the 4th, then won the next three or four rounds. I like Rigondeaux a lot, he has a gritty, dour look about him, looks oldschool.

In all honesty, Oscar was more talented than Donaire.

Thank you for being honest with us. I know that your personal feelings regarding ODH made this and continue to make it difficult for you to give ODH any credit for anything.

Seriously, though, I don't understand all the negativity regarding Donaire.

I understand he's been rated pretty high P4P at this point, and that expectations are high as a result.

But it's not like the Vazquez fight was close. And he did hurt Vazquez multiple times and knock him down - the first guy to do so.

And everyone's interpretation of this is that his power is gone?

Only thing that bugs me about Donaire probably has more to do with TR (which is fast becoming the biggest shit stain on this sport) is the fact he didn't challenge Mares or Agbeko, but instead just moved up to 122 where there's basically nobody to fight.

But that has nothing to do with Donaire's ability, which in one night's time, has gone from being somewhat over-estimated to being subject to a silly amount of criticism.

That's what fighter's do when they're forced to fight for survival and their heretofore caution is met with a trip to la-la land. They say to themselves, "well, look where careful got me. I lost control of my legs and was nearly stopped. I guess I may as well try to dish some out."

You are aware, aren't you, that your fondness for Rigondeaux need not be complemented with a dismissal of Donaire?

Donaire is a good fighter. I just think Rigondeaux is a better fighter than WV2 by a long chalk.
