Recently watched Cotto/Clottey. And while Cotto may or may not have eeked out that decision, he certainly was not in control of the fight.

In fact, the fight exposes pointedly the flaws Cotto has and why he stands virtually no chance at all of beating PBF.

If you watch PBF/ODH, one of the things you'll see is that ODH's success was due in large part to his willingness to trade with PBF. Nearly all of the offensive success ODH had in the fight, and there was plenty, occurred when ODH punched with PBF, or countered him. When this was not the case, and ODH tried swiveling between offense and defense, he was losing easily.

This brings us back to Cotto. And many have mentioned it already, and I've now confirmed it's true. Cotto, seemingly as a rule, does not integrate his offense and defense. Rather, the two are compartmentalized and never brought out together. This is a huge advantage for his opponents. Huge.

The other thing is, Cotto doesn't plant his feet or stand hsi ground very well. Rather, he's easily backed up and chased around the ring. This makes him tired, gives his opponent confidence, compromises his offense, and gives the impression he's losing.

Whether you think Cotto pulled out the Clottey fight or not, he did not do a good job of dealing with Clottey's defense, countering his offense, or dominating the fight. Many in fact think he lost.

Point is, if you watch Cotto/Clottey, you'll no longer be excited for PBF/Cotto, and you'll see that it's not the good match-up many are expecting it to be.

I wonder what is up with Clottey these days. According to the Floyd haters on here he is a great fighter.

Well, he is better than anyone PBF's faced at 147.

And he looked pretty damn good against Cotto. I'll tell you that.

I haven't seen him myself since his fight against Pacquiao.

Cotto/Clottey could have gone either way - yet Clottey looked pretty damn good, and Cotto was completely exposed.

Damn! I retired from my job to be able to prepare for this event and I sold my house to buy a bigger TV to see this fight. Now I watched the fight you recommended and all the excitement is gone.

Who said Cotto was exposed? The only reference I make to Cotto's ability is with respect to his chances against PBF. So yeah. Another non-point from Steve.

I didn't say he's great. I said he looked good against Cotto, a guy who beat Mosley, Margarito, Quintana and Judah.

Clottey fights nothing like Floyd. His defense is more like Winky Wright and he is way bigger and stronger than Mayweather.

First, I don't know what Gad means.
Second, I was very specific about what was exposed.
    Whatever. Again. Off my dick.

He's not way bigger. And while he doesn't fight exactly like Floyd (obviously), many of the tactics he employed will only be expanded on by Floyd.

Yes he is way bigger. They may be the same height but Clottey is much thicker.

I'm just kidding. Clottey is obviously a bigger man than Floyd. Double L is having a tough couple of days.

Cotto got very very lucky. He threw a basic jab that floored the guy, and that was key. Not saying that Cotto didn't gut it out, or at least force Clottey to choke, because he did, but I am saying he really did just barely get past him, and it had a lot to do with the knockdown.

    Clottey is a skilled choke-artist.

Appropriate that his most notable win came against Zab Judah.

What about the GASH from the headbutt that left MAC's left eyebrow hanging off his face?
