I'm no expert but in Judaism i believe you're "considered" a jew based upon what your mother was.

I kept thinking more in terms of ethnicity and was sitting here like "If your dad is Italian and your mom is Swedish, you are still half Italian..."

It's just very easy to forget and think of Jewish as an ethnic thing rather than merely religious.

 

True, I'm half Jewish only by heritage, I don't believe in any religion.

Realistically, you're half Jewish by heritage whether your mother or father are Jewish, the whole mother's side thing is just bullshit tradition.
