How could he possibly have won by that margin, having had a 10-7 round in the first. It's interesting - the announcers pretty much stopped paying attention after round 8 and that Gus guy in an effort to create excitement and a tidy narrative completely distorted events.

Gus has got to be the worst announcer of all times.

115-110 can be justified objectively. It is giving Cloud a 10-7 1st and only 2 more rounds.

    Punch stats are here: http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/view.php?pg=cloud-campillo-compubox

"Campillo survived two first round knockdowns to outlanded defending champ Cloud 2-1 in power shots, backing up the Don King promoted Cloud for the majority of the fight. Campillo landed more power shots in 9 of 12 rounds."

If you only give Cloud the rounds where he landed more power shots, you get 115-110. Sure, Cloud hits harder and it can be argued he won more than 3 rounds, I suppose, but Campillo was landing the cleaner shots throughout, he had better defense, Cloud's aggressiveness was far from effective, and it's a stretch to say Cloud was winning the ring generalship too often.

Now, throw that all aside and score the fight the better way...who would you have preferred to be in each round? Doing it that way, you will have Cloud winning 2-4 rounds. Unless you are a masochist.

    Cloud landed more jabs.

It's a lie to say Campillo backed Cloud up the whole fight.

    Campillo spurt-fought.

Somebody please make Cloud vs Dawson. If there's one fighter that can make Chad look like a P4P fighter, its Cloud.

    Dawson would stop him.

Pascal would be a lock if had good stamina. But....... he doesnt.

I could see Pascal beating the crap outta Cloud for the first half, then Cloud beating the crap outta Pascal late.

I rewatched it, and it was much closer than what I believed ( as I said, I was only partially paying attention the first time, and Campillo moments were far more flashing than Cloud's one, as well as the announcers cleary going for Campillo made it semmed to me wider than it was).
Campillo clearly won round 2-3-8-9 and 10. I also gave him the 5th and 7th but they were close. The 11th round he was winning big and had Cloud hurt before the ref stopped it, at a terrible moment imo, for the cut and Cloud came out big in the last half to make it very close. I gave the 4th, 6th and 12th to Cloud to go with his big 10-7 first round

    Good assessment.

I thought it was closer then the announcers were making it seem to. That first round was huge for Cloud, and I saw Campillo basically piss away the last two rounds.

It could have legitimately been a draw. The judge who scored it 116-110 for Cloud should be drawn and quartered.

I am a big Paul Williams fan, win or lose.........but I've found myself wandering from the TV when he's fighting nowadays.

120 punches a round or not, he just seems slow as molasses and he has no snap on his punches anymore. It's getting harder and harder for me to get excited watching him fight. I think he's on an obvious sharp decline.

Ishida, just is not very good.

Campillo got fucking robbed. Cloud is a Jeff Lacy clone. What a garbage decision that was.
