Nope not at all. Pay attention Z. He lost to cro-cop 3 times and then lost to big nog. After that he didnt fight MMA for about 2 years. Im saying that nobody was really considering Barnett a threat to Fedor and clamoring for them to fight based on Barnett's losses.

Barnett returned to MMA and when he returned it wasnt with Pride it was with a bunch of differen orginzations. He only became a talked about opponent when he and fedor were with Affliction. From there, they were scheduled to fight, but barnett got caught uses steriods. So the fight was off. Not fedors fight.

The UFC's heavyweight divison was very weak before Lesnar came on board. After that, they built the HW divison into what it is today, but before that, it didnt have the best heavies. I dont think Fedor and management thought a co-promotion was unrealistic since they got the deal they wanted with Strikeforce. At the time he joined Strikeforce, their heavyweight division was just a strong as the UFCs. Maybe even stronger. Now of course the UFC has the best heavies. And now the UFC doesnt want fedor.

I found your assumptions insulting, so I insulted you back.

I don't like assumptions. They annoy me. They're often wrong, as is the case here.

As the guys on the MMA forum know, I've always been a big fan of Pride and a lot of the roster back in prime time Pride, and Fedor too.

To be honest prime Fedor is one of my all time favourite MMA fighters, ridiculously explosive and aggression, with a HUGE amount of natural ability in the ring. The guy just knew how to fight. I also love the "Wolf in sheep's clothing" aspect about him.

But IMO he flat out ducked the UFC, it is what it is. It has no bearing on his competition in Pride, but he was offered a spot in the UFC, that would have surely been profitable for him, and he declined it.

I like MWS, but he does have a bad habbit of doing this.

Fair enough, but that's a short sighted viewpoint. The UFC is where the best competition ends up, and the UFC is where Fedor would have got the best exposure. It was absurd NOT to take the offer, unless he was being offered less than what he was making at the time, which surely isn't true.

I dont know if it isnt true. Fedor has made lots of money fighting and co-promoting his fights. He didnt need the exposure. He was the best at the time and everyone knew it.

Well if thats the case, I apologize for making an assumption about you, thats just how I felt. However, I dont think it warranted an attack.

He was in a better position than most yep, co promotion, more money than UFC fighters, plus being seen as the best. That doesn't matter though, his competition was laughable. He was obviously content with that.

He probably did need the exposure amongst casual fans btw, of course he would have got more fans by headlining UFC cards.

How was his competition laughable when going to strikeforce? When he signed with Strikeforce, i already stated Strikeforce's heavyweight rivaled the UFCs. And obviously his comp wasnt laughable when he lost 3 our of his 4 fights in his contract.

Of course I would have loved to see Fedor in the UFC, and his management is a big blame for it not happening. However, I dont blame Fedor a bit for not jumping over after the way Dana continually shit on him just because he didnt own him. If I was rich as fuck, still had people wanting to pay me to fight, and was coming in on the tail end of my career, I may not have given a shit either. Gedor is a simple man and may not have given a shit after Danas antics.

At no point was any division in Strikeforce better than the UFC. No fucking way!

Prior to the Brock Joining the UFC, the UFC heavyweight division was shit. After Brock it seemed the UFC really put a focus on making their division the best around.

Was anyone really saying that Rogers and Werdum trumped the UFC division back then?

  20. Anthony

    Anthony Admin Staff Member

Rogers was considered a top ten heavy when Fedor beat him and werdum was always a respectable heavy. They also had Overeem, Big Foot Silva, Arlovski, Barnett

UFC HW division was better at every point in history.

    Yeah....Anthony.

no but the division did. Especially with Fedor there. Rogers was looked at as a top ten heavyweight. And barnett was there along with silva, and Overeem.

    I disagree.

You know at the time Fedor beat Rogers, Lesnar was already in the UFC and ranked in the top 10. They also has JDS, Cain, Carwin, Big Nog and Mir.

    Just face it, you're wrong.

    Not even close

lol ok z. Carwin, JDS and Cain were not proven threats at that point in time. Did you forget history? The UFC Heavyweight divison was considered one of the worst.

  28. *Z*

*Z* WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

UFC HW division as a whole was miles ahead of SF. There were some top HW's in SF, but UFC had just as many top fighters plus way more depth.

  29. *Z*

*Z* WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Then why were they all ranked in the top 10 right after Fedor beat Rogers?

November 2009 rankings from Sherdog had 6 UFC fighters and 4 SF fighters.

Well 1. Sherdog was UFC's puppet back then. 2. provide the list. I would like to analyze it.
