like who? when brock joined Cain, JDS and Carwin were not major players in the division. So who are you talking about?

I'm talking about the timee when Fedor beat Rogers. Isn't that what you were talking about? That was in November 2009, and Cain, JDS, Mir, Nog, Brock were all ranked in the top 10.

JDS beat Werdum and sent him to SF, remember that?

This isn't a UFC vs Pride thread, its a "Is Boxing In Decline" thread.

Boxing is in trouble- not declining- but stagnating, or not growing at a fast enough rate- because of snobbery within the sport.

When you got people who won't tune in to watch a free fight, or a fight which costs less than the PPV cards they prefer to buy, on account of how they don't "like" the champion in question, then we have a problem.

I don't mind one bit if somebody decides not to purchase a $59.99 card because they feel the price, per se, the undercard, or the main-event are not worth it.

Nobody has any reason to turn their nose up at cut-price boxing, or free boxing, on grounds that it is being held in a country they don't like or that they "don't like" the Champion or his fights.

I remember the pre-internet days when, if I wanted to watch boxing, I had to have 1. An expensive cable subscription and 2. more money to make PPV/Prime-Time payments.

Today you can get acceptable streams on the net- and people are turning their nose up at them on the flimsiest of grounds.

I don't like Brandon Rios' character. I think he's a grinning, leering uneducated cunt. He keeps poor company. But I recognize his talent and I recognize his emergence as a possible player at 140. He is fighting Gamboa- who also has his faults, not to the same extent.

It is a great fight. I won't pay for it through the nose, but I might order it if it can be got on a stand-alone service, like Primetime in the UK.

At the very least I will stay up to an uncomfortably late hour to watch it online.

Dereck Chisora vs Robert Helenius and Vitali vs Chisora were available to a US audience on a decent internet stream at a very civilized hour of the day. Proper fight fans- proper fight junkies- should have been tuning in. They were decent fights.

Ranked top 10 by sherdog right?

    Again, show me the list.

Sherdog was on UFC's nuts. So i wouldnt be surpised to see Cain on this list back then despite beating NOBODY. At that point cain's biggest win was against Kongo in which he got severely hurt. Lets try and be objective here.

SF. had Overeem, Fedor & Barnett around the time Brock started.

Go back one more year to 2008 and Sylvia, Nog, Couture, Arlovski, Werdum, Gonzaga, Kongo were all ranked in the top 10, and all fought for the UFC. There were two non UFC fighters on the top 10 HW rankings. Rothwell, and Fedor.

Overeem wasn't even ranked at the time. You can't pull his ranking from today and apply it to 2009.

In the UFC, they don't care if you are a 4' tall Armenian who weighs 300lb and has enough body hair to clothe half of mainland China. They don't care if your signature move is body-odour to the face. They sincerely don't give a fuck. They'll give anyone a chance. The fans will watch anyone who gets into the cage and rolls around and throws "strikes" {a euphemism for the attempted punches these spaz' engage in}.

But a 6'8" guy with a bad left arm throwing lead right hands and carrying the round?? "Nah, cool story bro, but I'm Not interested....though the fight in the post-fight presser was awesome" :wack: :shit:

Well, according to some people, Sylvia and Arlovski were bums when Fedor fought them. Interesting these views huh?

I understand, but at least they tried to show it and at least some people tried to watch it. They'll get better- their feed was pants because people -more people than they had planned for- had tuned in.

The internet streams are a key tool in sustaining boxing- they don't damage it s the networks like to claim, rather they help it.

They weren't bums, but at the time they weren't the best either. Solid wins, nothing more.

Let's be real here, he beat Paul Buentello. Then fled to Dream and feasted on bums for 3 years. You don't get ranked by beating James Thompson and Gary Goodridge.

Maybe back in like 2000, but when he fought Overeem he had lost 3 fight before that and then went on to lose 3 after.

Anthony, we will have to agree to disagree on this one, I don't think we are going to get anywhere with this discussion.

Its a discussion about UFC. Nobody gets anywhere in this. You are both on the ground right now, your balls in his face, your face up his bottom, going nowhere fast. Stand up and STRIKE like a man!!!!!!:warning::kidcool:

I'm not making this shit up, I didn't do the rankings. Find some that prove your point and then we'll talk. until then I am claiming victory.

Choke him out, just to be sure, then run around the ring like a zoinked freak, as Joe Rogan self-harms in your honour.

Again, sherdog is not a credible source.

No way Cain was higher ranked than overeem in November of 2009.

Your point was that UFC had the best heavies at that point. Obviously that is not true. When Fedor signed with Strikeforce, the UFC heavyweight division was weak.
