    Who are you guys picking?

Alexander was highly overrated and Maidana just isnt very good.

So it's actually a somewhat interesting fight  Plus Maidana is fairly entertaining to watch if nothing else.

We'll see if there is anything truth to the idea that being weight drained is partly to blame for him losing his most recent 3 fights.

My guess is there isn't much truth to it, and he's simply not very good.

So I'll stick to my guns and pick Maidana by clear decision.

agREED...This is an IMPORTANT Fight for Both Guys...

Prior to the Loss to Bradley, just Over a Year Ago, Devon Alexander was Looked @ as a Potential Lb for Lb Caliber Fighter...But In All Honesty, Alexander HASN'T Looked Impressive Since Beating Urango...Aside from that, he's STRUGGLED w/Kotelnik, LOST to Bradley & STRUGGLED w/Mathhhyyyssses...Dude COULD B on a 3 Fight LOSING Streak, Realistically...

Alexander's Spoken OPENLY on the Pressures of Fighting in his Hometown, but the Thing is, St. Louis is THE ONLY Place he SELLS TICKETS, So he's GOTTA Fight @ Home...Alexander Needs a Decisive Win BADLY...

In Maidana's Case, Yeah, he Beat Ortiz, but he was Getting the WORST of Things Until Ortiz QUIT...He Lost to Khan, he's Lost to Kotelnik AND he Basically Allowed Erik Morales to RECLAIM his Boxing Relevance...Like Alexander, Maidana Needs a Decisive Win BADLY...

Their Styles MESH Well & Both Men SHOULD have a Sense of URGENCY to them...The Loser will Likely have to Drop Down to an ESPN2 Level, in Hopes of Possibly Working their Way Back to HBO Dates, Down the Line...Probably THE Most Important Fight in the Careers of BOTH Alexander & Maidana...

If Devon Alexander ever looked a potential pfp fighter then I am a Monkeys Uncle.

Urango? Great stoppage, great punch, no doubt about it. Might be the best punch Urango was ever hit with. But it was Urango. If thats the case then the kid Canelo is a pfp too contender for his flat, outright KO of Carlos Baldomir- and subsequent unbeaten streak- and we know that makes no sense at all.

Alexander looked very very bad in the Bradley fight. He offered nothing and then basically quit. I'm not going to rag on him over the Mathysse or Kotelnik fight. He got the decision, had to climb off the mat in one of the fights.

I just never saw how he had the makings of being a top-10 fighter across the divisions. He made Witter quit- after Bradley had gone to England and won a close decision there.

I got Maidana to win by late stoppage or UD.

Maidana can't cry about losing a close decision. this is Alexander's homeTOWN and we've seen twice now that he gets the nod in close fights (he might have even gotten more than 2 for all I know).

Maidana needs to dominate or KO Alexander.

    I predict a Draw

If Alexander can't hurt Maidana or can't frustrate him with his boxing skills....it's going to be a bad night for Alexander. Alexander doesn't seem to be very ring intelligent and a bit weak in the heart....so

    Maidana by TKO 10-11

Indeed, definitely an important fight for both guys, one of those crossroad type fights.

I must say though, that ever since I first saw Alexander, I didn't think he was anywhere near a P4Per calibre fighter. I couldn't believe anyone was picking him to beat Bradley, that seemed like a sure bet to me.

Maidana isn't as good as Bradley, so this is far from a sure bet, I think Maidana should win but I could very well see a 3rd gift decision for Alexander.

It still wouldn't be any less of a injustice if in fact Maidana is denied a decision he's earned.

Yeah, what should it be, "Oh well, we've seen it happen before, no big deal"

Partly through Alexander being overrated and partly because of the gift decisions, I hope Maidana bashes his face in and stops him.

I certainly agree that the fighter who deserves to win should always get the decision, but in the real world Maidana needs to kick ass or not bitch about it afterwards.

He still has the right to bitch. He has the right to fight in the other guy's hometown and not be robbed.

Not in the real world. At least not in my opinion. He knows what he is up against and he knows that he has to dominate or he won't win. At least, he should.

You're right, he probably does know that, and that there's a great chance he would get robbed in a close fight.

However, even though he probably never should have agreed to fight there, he still has the right to bitch should Alexander get a 3rd gift decision, because quite simply it shouldn't happen.

How's that Simian Nephew of yours Doing???...

In HINDSIGHT, it's Very Easy to Say that Devon Alexander NEVER had the Look of a Lb for Lb'der, but All REED Said was that he had the Look of a POTENTIAL Lb for Lb'der, 1nce Upon a Time...

Urango Went 12 HARD Rounds w/Hatton, then went 12 More Hard Rounds w/Berto (@ 147 No Less)...Along the Way, he Also had Impressive Wins Over LEGIT Jr. Welter Contenders like Ngoudjo & Bailey...

Beating Urango THE WAY Alexander Beat him was Extremely IMPRESSIVE & Seemed to B a "Coming Out" Performance of Sorts...The Stuff a POTENTIAL Lb for Lb'der would Do...& No, Urango was NOT @ the Same Point of his Career that Baldomir was, when Canelo Whipped him...

I don't know but I think Devon might be Bernard Hopkins offspring.
