I love it- how long before the fights people were prepared to admit he lost get regarded as wholesome wins??

This doesn't change my opinion of Alexander much.

Maidana is a glorified clubfighter who is clearly not suited to 147, without the strength advantage he has at 140.

There's probably some truth to the idea that he was weight drained at 140, but I still don't rate him. I would pick Berto to beat Alexander.

I was impressed with Alexander. Maidana struggled.

He probably was weight-drained at 140. But his performance vs Bradley was not that of a weight-drained fighter. It was that of a guy who couldn't fight at all, or even worse, didn't want to. He'll be better at 147 than he was at 140. He's a future Floyd opponent in my opinion.

Agreed, even giving him the benefit of the doubt of being weight drained, there is no way that's the main reason for his pathetic performance against Bradley.

He also never seemed to look that bad at 140 weigh ins.

Weight-Drained fighter usually have a fast-start and a calamitous collapse or fade very very badly. Devon has just been consistently inconsistent. He just did not seem at all interested vs Bradley. Maybe he doesn't like being made to work for it. He seemed too easily distracted by the headbutts.

Last night also proved what I've said before; Matthyse is better than Maidana.

Is that a serious question? Alexander/Maidana looked like a competitive fight on paper. But I didn't see any of the TV fights last weekend, I was in Montreal for a trip.

And Alexander's money making opportunities have nothing to do with Kellerman. He's one of the few American fighters with legit drawing power.

Ah well, if you just checked out Maidana vs Alexander out of a desire to see some boxing, I suppose we could let that slide. I am as much a junkie for the fights as anyone- and I love an American card- but I couldn't hold my eyes open for that. Morpheus is a demanding God, appointments with him are not lightly broken.

I try to watch everything too. Alexander/Maidana had potential to be a decent fight and it wasn't on that late here.

"beat the shit out of him".

Dude, if ever the shit was beaten out of Maidana, the guy would fit inside a matchbox.

An ancient alcoholic version of Morales completely exposed the guy's lack of skills and lack of variety, and noted fuck-tard Khan was one clean body shot away from a first round KO of Maidana.

This was before he lost to Peterdude.

Maidana is a good 140lbr and even at that he finds a way to make life hard for himself.

Madaina needs to stay at 140. Why is everyone discounting this as a factor in his performance. One thing's for sure, even if Alexander did control Madaina illegally with incessant holding, he did prove that his chin isn't complete shit.

Don't be a cunt. Nobody is knocking Alexander save for pointing out he's a somewhat gunshy dude who did a lot of holding en route to a comprehensive but broadly soporific win. He's a routine pug. As if the slant-eyed "Chino" was a huge favourite of mine. Come off it. People should be allowed to draw certain conclusions about the perversity of his pfp pretensions without being accused of hating the guy.

I've yet to see Maidana fight anyone else of note at 147. As a general rule, fighters whose success is predominantly derived from their strength advantage at a given weight acquire less success as they move up through the divisions.

Agreed. I was high on Alexander pre-Bradley, but wasn't sure he'd beat Maidana. The jury's still out as far as I'm concerned. Thought he looked good last night, and as you said he still really young.

Which one is that? The one where I pointed out that gangsters do in fact enjoy the opportunity to box, and that despite what dumb bitch columnist says (because she can't help it), they aren't, tragically without the opportunities offered by boxing?
