Just had a butcher's at the odds for this one. 9/2 is very tempting, I must say. We all know Pac hasn't been at his best in his last couple fights - which could be down to, 1) he is declining in the ring, 2) he's not putting in 100% in training, 3) his mind is focused on out of ring activities. I think it's a mixture of 1 and 2. Now take these elements and bring in Bradley. You've got a young unbeaten guy. Not only is age on his side, he is not the type to want to fight for just a paycheck - he'll do what ever it takes to preserve his unbeaten record and to make a real name for himself in this fight. He lives clean and from our knowledge he has nothing outside of the ring to distract him, so he can train hard and dedicate himself to boxing. Mix all these ingredients in together and we could just witness an upset this coming June. Now, my arm has been twisted by a friend and I have thought about this, so i'm going to put money on Bradley to win. What are your thoughts? Can Bradley beat the odds? Does he have what it takes to win?
Well, I think it's a combination of all 3. More 1 and 3 actually. Number 3 is important actually and is one reason Manny seemed a bit soft against both Mosley and Marquez, a far cry from his balls to the wall "No Fear" days. Like steve said, Bradley could be the right fighter at the right time. If I had to bet though, it would still be on Pacquiao. I think Bradley is hittable enough for a Pacquiao beatdown to be possible. On those odds though, it's worth a shot I guess. For me, Bradley has more like a 33% chance of winning. Put it this way, I think Pacquiao has to prepared for somewhat of a war to win. If Pacquiao has softened up too much for that, Bradley wins, he's a determined little fucker who can fight, and he won't stop trying to win.
who invented this derogatory nickname for klitsckho? as for bradley, not bad odds for a talented young fighter against a guy who is more or less shot
I can't lie, the more and more I think about this matchup, the more I like Timmy's chances. Manny really isn't into the sport anymore IMO. Thats not to say he won't train hard for this fight PHYSICALLY. But I don't see him having the same fire anymore. The last time he had the fire was probably the Cotto fight. Rest assured Bradley will give the performance of his life, win or lose. Now, is a declined/unmotivated Pac still good enough to beat Bradley? Most likely, yes. But it certainly opens up the door for a very possible Bradley upset.
This is exactly how I see it. I think I'm going to put down a wager on Bradley too, so if either guy wins, I'll be happy.
I'd prefer to put my wonga on a young and hungry 28 year old unbeaten fighter who's odd are 9/2 compared to an over the hill 39 year old who's 50-1.
Agreed. And Manny has a high energy attacking style that is very much relient on balls and fire. The more I think about it the more I think Bradley has a pretty legit chance. And yes, Bradley at those odds is infinitely better than a fighter that has literally no chance at 50-1.
Are you casting aspersions on the championship caliber of an old and money-grubbing ex-PED merchant like Shane Mosley?? Mosley vs Pac and Mosley vs Floyd were good fights.
:: Mosley was not as heavy an underdog as Mormeck was. Mosley indeed gave Floyd hell before being outclassed - it was a great fight. Against Pac he didn't do a great deal but didn't allow Pac to either. I haven't seen any of Mormeck before the wald pussy fight, but he was obviously at a great disadvantage in weight and size.
They were poor fights that could and should have been made decades earlier. Shit is shit. Monster-Munch comes out as shit, Roast Beef comes out as shit. Which would you rather step in? Neither.
I agree that Floyd/Mosley should have been made long before it happened, but their eventual meeting showed us that Mosley indeed has the power to hurt Floyd and give him trouble. I believe a younger Mosley would have done so much more. He would have let his hands go, but you'd know Floyd wouldn't get hit too often but would struggle a great deal more than he did against the older version. That fight last night was a shambles.
The fight last night was fine. The actual combat. I'd sooner see that than 12 rounds of Freddie Norwood vs Antonio Cermeno. Wlad did what any sane thinking champ would do, he just beat the small man up and laid him out. His left is a gift of an arm. Shite fight but...it played out satisfactorily. The arrangement of the fight was a shambles but here is the thing- I can put together a long list of similar shambles between fighters that people paid more money for and were quite happy to quickly gloss over and behave as if they had never happened. Is it not perverse that more is expected from a man generally regarded as being less than good?? :dunno: I mean, did not Larry Holmes labour doggedly with an Earnie Shavers that had been blown out by an old, past-it Jerry Quarry? Thats a high-level example. Prime Holmes struggling- and being floored by- a guy blown out in 1 by 6' 190lb Jerry Quarry. Thats before we even get around to the festivities of the early 1990's and the Bobby Chizzes, Joe "Not very Hop" Hipp, Bruce Seldom and such like. Top dollar was paid for this shit. Regarding Floyd vs Mosley, I like the similarities- Floyd is, like Wlad, a guy who can be taken out, if you can get to him. The fact that Floyd could be gotten to- albeit briefly, by a jaded and, frankly, money-oriented Shane, says a lot about how Wlad is right to keep things tight. If Floyd isn't taking too many chances, why should anyone else??
Pac vs Bradley? But its a good fight. Bradley has a serious chance of winning. Could be the right time. If it isn't, we can always forget that it ever happened and that he ducked Khan, right?
You know, I've never realized it before, but you're right. The Klitschko's are the only fighters in the history of Fightbeat who've been criticized for their comp.
Klitschko brothers are rarely criticized on fightbeat for their comp, because they fight all comers. I don't know what the fuck you have been reading son. Its this one fight that has drawn the pus, drawn the humor- in the medical, rather than comical sense. It is strange.....how this one fight has caused such a fester of welting sores.
Now this is the Pac-Bradley thread, so thank you kindly sir, thank you kindly. Keep all other pingz to the 244 vs 187 thread. Bradley- did he duck Khan or did he hold his horses so he could make more money and possibly score the biggest win of his life vs Pac? I think its the latter. How can Bradley win this fight?? Well he can't , but fuck it we have to pretend he can. How would you fight it if you were Bradley?
To get back on topic, personally this isn't the kind of fight I would bet on. I only bet on fights where I have a very strong feeling one fighter is going to win, not fights I think are close to 50/50, even if the odds are much better than that one way or the other. This could certainly be seen as a value bet though, if you're the kind of better that just goes for good odds.
Yeah, as you said, you still have to favour Pacquiao. He should win. But it's the kind of fight where I can see a case for Bradley. I wouldn't bet on it either.
Pac is going to win. If it comes down to the cards it seems to me to be most unlikely that Pac is going to get the damp side of any narrow decisions. The Pac vs Floyd thing is too big and that, as we know, is how it works. Bradley won't be allowed to bore on in, his head won't be an issue, take that out and what do you have? A super-fit guy who comes forward and can be found and hit. It stinks of Pac UD Bradley.
I see Bradley made for Pacman which is why they chose him . He runs in and fires bombs that have no "mustard" on them. Unless Pac is done, he is knocking Bradley out.
I'm not entirely sold on Bradley being anything special, he appears to labor in the ring, work, work, work with very little idea as to WHY he is doing what he is doing... BUT, what makes this intriguing to me is that Bradley is bringing a dimension of youth and the speed that accompanies it, that Pacquiao has not seen in AGES. Think of Pac's "run" over the last few years, not a single guy could be thought of as "fast" ... OK, Hatton had good feet, but not particularly quick hands and his style, or lack of it, was tailor-made for Pacquiao. I want to see how Manny deals with a fresh, young guy who has the speed of youth. That makes this fight intriguing
But will Bradley actually try a leg? Thats the thing. I think he will, for a while, then settle into a groove and accept a UD loss.
Yes but he's not facing Devon Alexander or Kendall Holt now, he is fighting somebody who can hurt him. And will.
