He stepped back against Haye all night and what did he get? Criticism, from the guy he is paying top dollar to train him, amongst others. You are asking a guy you regard as limited to perform in a total contrary fashion. The criticism is acceptable, even commendable, but juxtaposed as it is with the low opinion in which you originally hold the subject, it becomes farcical. When blended with the deliberate non-compliance of the opposition, it becomes risible. The fight was ended cleanly and fairly and it withstands no small scrutiny when stood up against some of the performances of his more illustrious predecessors.
To me it seemed like Wlad stood on his ground and Mormeck rushed him, which is why they ended up clinching. If you penalize Wlad for that (and force him to be the one who steps back or starts exchanging inside with the short guy), then, as I already said, you give an unfair advantage to the short guy. Now I am not saying that Wlad doesn't hold too much, sometimes he does do it and looks to clinch the way Ruiz and some others did, but against Mormeck he was just holding his ground. I can't see the problem with that
You need new material. Quickly. I will now step back from the fray and allow you to gather your thoughts. Both of them.
i really can't comprehend how people could ever like Wald Pussy, the fighter. Wlad seems a decent, intelligent guy. Compared to other heavyweight champions who could barely speak one language Wlad can speak 5. In theory, he is a great ambassador for the sport until the bell rings. Then you see a terrified little sissy man holding and jabbing his way to awful decisions or boring knockouts. Wald is eye cancer in the ring.
Because excessive holding is against the rules. I saw Wlad initiating at least 90% of last nights clinches. There's no rule against trying to get inside without throwing shots - if anything it should just make it easier for the taller man to deal with his advances. The biggest culrpit of course isn't Wlad - it's the endemically shit standard of refereeing which allowed guys like Wlad & Khan to hone illegal styles to avoid engaging in a legitimate dimension of the sport
If Wlad had thrown, then fallen into a clinch deliberately, a la vs Sam Peter in the first fight, then maybe there would be a case. The clinches in their majority stemmed from Mormeck ploughing forward, then trying a clinch, then looking longingly at the referee. When Wlad moved forward and was not clinched, he let his hands go, which is why the fight ended as it did. At best, the case against Wlad rests on his fighting down to somebody elses standard- for some of the 10 minutes- rather than bringing the other man down to his own standard for the entire fight. In any regard, it is a might curious that such a routine affair should attract the most rigorous of scrutinies. Just how such a mountain can be made of a sub-four-round molehill, especially when compared with previous fights of supposedly better fighters, is not immediately clear.
Don't forget Hopkins and RUIZ if the sport were properly officiated they would have had no careers. However, I think Wald the Pussy would be a beloved fighter if he were not allowed to clinch. I have seen every wALD FIGHT . Believe or not, he used to be one of the most exciting heavyweights ever.
Privacy? You wouldn't know the meaning of the word you probing, sifting, browsing, self-advertising rent-boy.
Yeah, a beloved fighter who retired five or six years ago after a string of KO defeats. He was forced to change his style due to a lack of toughness. I agree though, I used to enjoy his fights too.
Is he a career-exciting heavyweight? Better get MWS and Loadedgloves in here to draw the lines and debate the matter. Wlad could have gone 4-1 every five fights and never gotten any love or respect for it. I have never seen a single fighter like him- any loss is potentially his last- it is the height of immorality for people to turn around and demand that he fight in an "exciting fashion", against a backdrop of perennially threatened excommunication for his next loss.
I broke no laws, broke no rules, and you are welcome to attempt to prove otherwise. This shit coming as it is from a man who described, in fine detail, my hands and face to a rapt audience on fightbeat....is most hypocritical. :: Now jog the fuck on sweetheart.
Show some class and be the bigger man. It's easy to google and post when the favour can't be returned because you've never accomplished anything in your life. I'm telling you to not post anything of mine that I haven't made available on fightbeat. You can do it. ray:
I hold Wlad in lower regard than Ugo re: his chances against Tyson & Holyfield but he was fighting Mormeck last night for crisake. He could walk to the end of the alley and fart the pins overwithin the rules yet he still found a way to cheat and make a complete eye sore of it. The criticism against Haye was again negativity in a position of complete dominance, but I don't think you heard much of it from me because it was negativity within the rules on the whole. A yawn or two maybe but not much criticism.
No. You're asking me. You're asking me because you are cognizant of your own previous indiscretions. I accept your plaintive request for quarter, laptop lad.
No. Thank Wlad. He stopped the guy. I really think that 4 rounds of mixed sweets is a bit much to be getting upset over. It can't all be Cadburys. A bit of fudge, a bit of bitter apple drops. This is ONE facet of his technical game that people have a beef with. ONE. ONE. Hopkins is a Living God and he doesn't even throw punches AND he clinches AND he fouls and flops and rolls over and grabs his clavicle.
Best and worst of Wlad. That left arm is ridiculous, but having maneuvered Mormeck into position for a fight-ending right-uppercut, he chooses to clinch. Its 50% old-Wlad, 50% boxing-by-numbers new-Wlad. My point, simply, is that better fighters have made similar errors, as evidenced by Manny's frantic behaviour in the first Lewis-Holyfield fight. Maybe Manny is a common denominator, but its hard to blame him entirely. I think Wlad needs to study his fights and make offensive adjustments.
No matter how much you try to argue it was a shit fight. And don't bother to pretend you aren't defending it...because if you were not doing so we wouldn't even be having this conversation. You are as bad about defending Wlad and/or Vitali as Stafford is with Mayweather. I never thought anyone else would be quite that lame, but here you are proving me wrong. If you ACTUALLY think it was a shit fight...then STFU about it instead of, as usual, drowning the forum in Wlad/Vitali propaganda.
I WILL GRANT YOU Wlad is unfairly criticized. He really isn't any less boring than LENNOX Lewis was. Lewis versus Mohawk Bum nearly stopped me from watching boxing ever again.
If Wlad fought in an era that didn't place such a premium on winning and winning-streaks, he might take more chances. If it was acceptable for guys to be walking around with 45-18-9 records then he might be more risk-taking. As it is he's been pretty blunted by the need to keep winning. I'm not sure Manny has the verve or energy at this stage to go to work on his offense. If Wlad lacks the counterpunching then he needs to attack in full when he does attack. Manny seems to be demanding counter-shots out of him. They should get a solid defence, and a solid offense, and stop trying to find things in between.
Wlad is actually more safety first and negative then Lewis ever was. It could be said wlad's style is Lewis' on steroids :stir:
I think people overrate Lewis' style. He was hated at the time. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE is Lewis actually had an ego. He would put in a decent and brutal kayo like gOLATA OR Rahman 2 in between dreadful performances. Wlad used to be exciting and then never had a decent fight again. I actually liked the Ibragamov fight and I liked Lewis TUA FIGHT. iF YOU WERE TO rank each fighter from their beginnings and assign a numerical number like 10 for great fight and 1 for shit, the numbers would be pretty similar.
