Yeah, Lewis was mind numbingly boring. Some of his cowardly performances actually made me feel physically sick. He was just as bad as wald pussy, he just had more highlight reel KO's to make people forget his horrendously boring performances.

Come on. The guy hooks off the left like no man out there- never mind a guy with an 84" span. That's hardly cagey. Its a bit of both.

BTW that gif, that there is the wald pussy super clasp in action.

Mormeck presented no threat at all and wald pussy could have landed a meaty right uppercut, but instead chose to initiate the wald pussy super clasp.

I guess it's just too ingrained in him at this point, he does it instinctively.

I hated Lewis but his negativity was measured compared to other fighters of his time. Look around now, the marque names include Old Man Hopkins, Floyd, Ward, Khan & Bradley now. Escapology is the essence of the sport now.

The worst that can be said is Lewis was a pioneer of stink....he's a stinky giant but Wlad is standing on his shoulders another 6 1/2 feet. Wlad's holding a banner at the front of the march of progress

Fair point. I haven't watched a lewis fight since he retired I don't think, and have no desire to, but this is definitely a stinkier, more negative era.

Bradley though? He's an aggressive fighter with a high workrate. He's not remotely negative, he comes to fight.

That he's such great offensive gifts doesn't ameliorate the escapology for me. Cheating which wipes out an entire, legitimate dimension of the sport (infighting) is surely the very worst kind possible

Yeah, thats what I said. :dunno: Mormeck presented no threat because Wlad had him under fire with a quintuple left hook. The other side of that is that, yes, he didn't fire the right uppercut. Maybe he will address this. Maybe he won't.

Yeah, fair point, just rather more clinching & leading with the head than I'd prefer though

One thing I shall say about wald pussy, when I first saw him fight I was amazed at his handspeed and the form of his left hook for such a big man.

I said this before, but wald pussy with a killer instinct and granite chin would be a frightening beast indeed.

OK that's true. Whilst not negative, there is a bit of stink to his style.

Who are the least stinky fighters in boxing? I'd have to nominate Manny and Marquez. Barely a clinch in their entire trilogy, or purposeful foul.

He is one of the best offense fighters of all time in the heavyweight division. Lewis was not as talented, but a better overall fighter. Lewis was a stinker though. He onlytook risks when he was pissed. Even his fight against Tyson was a joke. Tyson was done after round 2 and Lewis carried him. I disagree that it is the era. Lewis was just plain lazy. Most fighters couldn't get past his jab. He never went for the kill and that is why he was reviled in the US.

He's an uppercut away from rivaling Louis & Tyson in punch arsenal. Sometimes he really is like having Gandhi in charge of the Red Army though

Oh come on. Trinidad and Cotto made a career out of whacking people in the nuts to get out of trouble. Others have loaded their gloves or removed padding, jammed their cuts with an illegal cement or drunk from "mixed" bottles.

Anyways- Word is that Wlad wants Arreola on October 20th in Brooklyn but Richard Schaefer says no- they {GB} have exclusivity of promotion for the opening night.

Escapology's much more insidious. Its an attack on the fans & the sport itself, not just your opponents nuts

Leon and Michael....nobody confuses the bummy Leon with the super talented Mike...albeit that Leon has a win over Ali. Followed promptly by a loss to some heavy from Cape Town. What. An. Era.

Way more people out there confuse the Klits - their careers ran in near perfect parallel. So its mildly ironic. More ironic than anything in the Alanis Morisette song

Not being able to tell Wlad and Vitali apart in the ring reminds me of Spike Lee's film 'Bamboozled' ,..'Grind the bone in the dish until it's a milky white paste, - apply to face' ... :crafty:

Leon had a win over Ali when Ali was beyond shot. lol@"some heavy from Cape Town," that was Gerrie Coetzee. The fact that you just started watching boxing in 2008 or whatever isn't an excuse for this shit. You should really read up on your history, because every time you open your mouth about this shit you make yourself look ignorant. Coetzee was a decent, if inconsistent fighter. That same era also brought us Larry Holmes and a host of good contenders.

Trying to argue this era isn't shit by making piecemeal jabs at bygone eras you know nothing about is dumb.

You don't think it Haye's best win then? Or a good win? He was the underdog and away from home- it was the last time Haye actually showed he had some balls and fought.

The Macca win was good. I know I picked Macca- and forever endeared myself to you by dispatching with great haste the monies owed- but if Macca had come into the fight believing he could win he could have discomfited Haye mightily. That was Haye's cleanest performance and the one which basically meant Wlad or Vitali would have to fight him. Haye pretty much stayed right in front of the Taff oaf.

The Valuev fight was OK....just tepid and safety-first, against a backdrop of promises to the contrary.

Meh, it was a decent win. Not great. I was pretty low on Mormeck at the time coming off the Bell fights, who I didn't think was much.
