JDS vs Overeem Cain vs Mir Nelson vs Big foot Gonzaga vs Del Rosario A lot of key heavyweight match ups
I like Del Rosario. I can see him going far. Why the hell is Gonzaga back in the UFC taking up space?
agreed, I like Shane too. You don't think Gonzaga is a great matchup for him? If he can't get passed Gonzaga, he's got a long way to go. If he does, he puts a name on his resume. Who would you rather him be matched against?
Gonzaga looked very good in his last fight which was in the UFC. I think he did a smart thing. He got back to his roots and began concentrating on BJJ heavily. Keep in mind, this is one of the very best HW BJJ practicioners in the world. The problem is that he knocked out Cro Cop with the 'kick heard round the world' and suddenly thought he was a striker. He had hit and miss results after that point. If Gonzaga is honestly back to looking to go to the mat first, Del Rosario is toast. And I believe Gonzaga will. Since getting booted from the UFC, he's got two submission wins in a row. Prior to being booted, he didn't have a submission win since 2008. Good for Gonzaga. Bad for Del Rosario.
Did Chad Griggs sign with the UFC too? I want to see the sideburns of doom in the UFC. Good card though, I think Roy Nelson is getting fired after this loss. I can't see him beating Bigfoot. Cain vs Mir is interesting. Both guys don't have the best chins, who ever lands a good one first wins. I would pick Cain. JDS KO 1
I was thinking the exact same thing. I can see Gonzaga getting a quick sub in this fight. Del Rosario has never faced BJJ like this.
Do you think Oliveira is any less an opponent that Shane Del Rosario? Not trying to pick a fight with you homey, just not finding the logic in you stance on Gonzaga. Don't think he is elite by any means, but he is far higher on the totem pole than Shane. I think the matchup is perfect. I would also say if Gonzaga loses to Shane, his neck should be on the chopping block again.
Olivera is not proven at all. At least Del Rosario has beaten someone in the UFC. And fairly easily too.
Del Rosario has never fought in the UFC. And Olivera earned his way into the UFC by racking up a 13-0 record in the same Brazilian shows that produced JDS. Rosario, on the other hand, was just absorbed with the SF HW's. The bottom line is that there isn't a huge gap between Del Rosario and Olivera at all.
LOL.. Yeah, he beat Lavar Johnson who is in the UFC for the same reason Del Rosario is. Because he came over from Strikeforce.
I really hope your right, man. I just don't see it. I see tons more potential out of Shane, but I don't see him at the level to beat Gonzaga right now. I will be rooting right along side yout though:Thumbs:
They just added Mark Hunt vs Stefan Struve to officially make this an all heavyweight card. Awesome. Hunt will KO Struve in a minute.
Signature bet? I think Struve submits Hunt almost without breaking a sweat. It is kind of cool that this will be the first card in UFC history with an 'all heavyweight' main card. Given the history with HW's, the entire PPV could be over in 20 minutes.
Struve is cool I like him but he will not take Hunt down easily and will end up getting taken out with a big right hand very early.
