    Avengers will beat The Dark Knight Rises at the box office, but critics will love the Nolan film even if it disappoints its main core audience. remember: no Joker/Heath Ledger here; a geek favorite, but not widely known villain and the Princess Diaries anorexic chic as Catwoman in a Julie Newmar costume plus the 'curse of a third part'...this film can be another Godfather Part III or worst: another Batman Forever.

    The more I see and hear about both The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises, I'm far more interested in the former.


    Nolan should have sucked it up and done a remake of the ace 1960s 'Batman' movie featuring all four classic villains.
    (plus rubber-shark, Penguin-submarine, smoke-riddles in the sky, etc)

    Based on what? The trailer or because is directed by Nolan? The current trailer is not as exciting as the trailer for The Dark Knight was. And you can't make an assertment like that because of the director (did you watched the Academy Award nominated "Hugo" from Martin Scorcese? That film was nominated ONLY because Scorcese was the director. Both critics and audiences found it so-so. I hope this new Batman film is great, but I doubt it from what I have seen so far. Hey wasn't Bane in Batman & Robin too?:pathetic:

    Both the director and the trailer along with the 5 minute prologue.
    because Nolan has been on fire with his movies, i can assume that the movie will be good. Scorcese hasnt had a streak like nolan. He has had misses out there. Hugo didnt win big because of Scorcese, it won big because it was a good movie. By your logic all of Martin's other movies would have been this successful.

    When i saw the prologue, i knew this movie would be terrific. Yeah bane was in Batman & Robin and two Face was in Batman forever. What is your point?

    Hugo won big? where? The movie is still a box office dud. It cost like $188-200 million and has not recoup its investment. My point is that even a director 'on fire' can had its duds: Steven Spielberg was on fire after JAWS and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND. Then he directed 1941 which almost sunk the studio. The thing with Bane is that he is not a well known villain like The Joker, the Riddler or the Penguin. We comicbook geeks know him. John Doe doesn't. And if reminded, John Doe will say,"Oh yeah...the big zombie from Batman & Robin...I pass" Again, I hope the movie is great because I want to be entertained, but so far I am not hyped by this film like I am for The Avengers (which can turned out to be another Fantastic Four-like disappointment, but I am crossing my fingers since from what I have seen in the trailers is damn exciting!).

    It won 5 academy awards. Again, Nolan is on a role. He hasnt made a terrible movie in years. Bane doesnt have to be well known to be popular. The 5 minute prologue was ridiculous. Half of the audience was there just for that. If you think the bane in Batman and Robin is going to be a big zombie, you are crazy. This movie will elevate Hardy into an elite actor. Nolan's batman movies are more than comic book movies man. They are works of cinematic art. They will have a staple in cinematic history for decades. You cant compare the movie to the popcorn movie that will be the avengers. Michael Bay could direct that shit and it would be the same.

    I have to wait until August to see the Avengers. The reason is because I'm in Japan, and I either have the option of downloading it or watching it on base in a piece of shit theater. The movie is too important for that so I'm just going to have to wait until it comes out over here.

    The Bane in BATMAN & ROBIN was a big zombie closer to The Hulk than to a real villain. I am not saying this will be the case in this new film. Just pointing out he is an obscure villain compared to that Catwoman wearing welding glasses. Anything wrong with popcorn films? Star Wars is pure popcorn and many critics hated it because it was not a 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. So what? We had escapist fun. That is why I leave my house, get in the car and pay a pricey movie ticket: to be entertained. If I want to see art, I go to a museum.

    And the catwomen was a real cat and penguine was a real penguine. Again, different movies. IMO star was was not just a pop corn film. it had something to it. That being said, i go to the movies for movies like Nolan's batman. Movies that have actual thought and integrity to it.

    Yeah, it;'s some reinvention of 'Batman' to try and make it 'darker' or more appealing to 'older readers'.

    Doesn't matter how DC Comics dress it up, it's always gonna be 'Batman' and it's still a man in tight-fitting PVC suit and a younger boy in tights going 'POW!' or 'BIFF!' to some other guys in tights.



    All the time, Catwoman looks on, sexually frustrated.
