I think Messi will go down as the greatest so far, not just for his achievements, but also for the way the game has evolved - faster, stronger, more arduous. BUT he has done it all in the best team in the world, and is yet to shine at a World Cup. Maradona's exploits for Napoli just about edges it in his favour.
Fucking hell, the talk up here the last few days is that the liquidation of Rangers is now 'inevitable'. Might even happen before the season is out. And unless rules are changed the refounded club wouldn't even be able to restart in division 3. Heavy duty.
The season for Everton comes down to the next two weeks. In a span of 12 days we play three league matches against Tottenham, Liverpool, and Arsenal, and an FA Cup tie at home to Sunderland. :34: I care more about the cup tie than anything right now as I am still setting my sights on maybe going to the cup final. Have to make that decision quickly and can't see into the future. As much as a cunt I would feel if I booked it and we didn't make it, I would feel like twice the cunt if it were the other way around. Any idea how much I would be paying for a ticket to the final? I'm guessing around 60 pounds legit and about 100 pounds from a tout.
I think Everton can win the Cup, if I had to put a few quid on a team doing it, it might be Everton. Moyes finally might be ready to win a trophy. Fuck Harry Redknapp. I hope Everton do them this weekend, Spurs are overrated and are collapsing- as I said they would. It would be brutal listening to the media crowing on about Davey Moysey Moysey Davey but outside of Liverpool winning it, who is their? Sunderland? Spurs?? Not a lot to like there. Liverpool are at Sunderland tomorrow and I bet there will be empty seats galore. Forget about scalping a ticket. By the time the Dollar-Pound chasm is accounted for, you are looking at two weeks wages probably. Everton would travel EN MASSE to a Cup Final, I mean, its not just because they haven't won a trophy since 1995- its their scene. Everton would travel to the opening of a blue envelope in their hundreds of thousands. In other news, did anyone else see the hurt that Athletic Bilbao put on United?? Totally outplayed them. Didn't just beat them, they outplayed them. It was like watching Barcelona-lite.
Blue Knights to the Rescue. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17301939 Former Rangers director Paul Murray has confirmed that his 'Blue Knights' consortium is finalising an offer to buy the club. Ticketus, who advanced money to Rangers in return for several seasons' worth of ticket sales, are part of the consortium along with fans' groups. Murray feels his party "are able to deliver an attractive solution". The group says "new and experienced" board members could be appointed in the event of a successful purchase. Businessman Murray left the Rangers board shortly after Craig Whyte's takeover of the club last May. I wonder where he got the £2.3m from. :: I can just see Andy Goram standing outside a pub with a tin can, selling blue pencils from an orange cup, for 12p a go, in order to "Save Rangers". Let God save your Rangers, while he is saving your Queen. Aye, let the bawbag multi-task.
None of them have the money to salvage them. 2.3m? £80m only takes der hun back to sea level.... I think what we're seeing is a jostling to pick the assets off & start the Newco. King was pretty open in that intention earlier in the week & it seems it was Whyte's plan all along too, though the heat he's taking may stop him seeing his plan through.
Twas a joke. Who is the richest man in Scotland? Probably some brewery owner, worth £750,000. :: Richest guy in Ireland is breathing down his neck with a hefty £680,000.:limp: Richest man in Ireland used to be a guy called Quinn, worth a rumoured £1Bn at the peak of the madness, now he is basically potless. Whytes plan seems to have been to buy the club with borrowed money, from Ticketus, and then pay back the money over time, from, erm, ticket sales :scratcher: Do I have this right?? He also planned to let the club go el smacko, thus wiping the debt, then pocketing the lot for a song and selling it off again for a tidy wee profit? Is this also right?? :dunno:
:: I dunno man, it's looking that way. My uncle who runs a business and is clued up on these things called it the moment Whyte took over - I thought it sounded pretty far fetched at the time.
