I thought he lost the collazo fight he also lost a good chunk of rounds to Kostya i thougt. and he has tasted the canvas a few times at 140 even with Vann's help. I would say he has lost more than 5 rounds at 140.
based on styles and a superior resume at 140 along with his ability to move up two weight divisions and still be champ.
What? :: He lost to 2 all time greats, and the 2 best fighters of the modern era. He won convincingly against every other fighter he fought apart from Collazo. Most of his wins were pretty dominant. Hatton is underrated. Also Anthony, you say "Hatton lost to a great counter puncher in Pacquiao, Cotto is a great counterpuncher etc". Yeah but Cotto doesn't have the handspeed and power combination to knock Hatton tfo like Pacquiao did, and he doesn't have the agility to avoid getting roughed up like Pacquiao has, or the infighting skills to get the better of Hatton up close like Floyd did.
He got a gift against Collazo. IMO he lost that fight. I guess my whole point is that when he stepped up his game, he lost.
Gift is arguable. Opinions on that fight are split. I had it 6-6, so the KD for Hatton won it for me. And as someone who's been posting with me for years you know I was never a Hatton guy.
Yeah but you smoke a lot of weed and i think your memory is shot if you think Cotto couldnt beat Hatton. The only people who thought hatton would win were the brits when they were both at 140. In fact, Hatton was considered a Brittish bum for many years even after Kostya.
That's completely unfair. Collazo is an average world level welter, all that proved is Hatton didn't belong at 147. And like Steve, I thought it was a very close fight and that Hatton just edged it. It could have gone either way. He beat better fighters at 140, he should be judged as a 140 pounder, and that's the matchup at hand, Hatton Vs Cotto at 140. At 147 I would pick Cotto for sure, he is stronger at the weight.

Collazo wasn't at 140. In fact Collazo weighed 165 odd. On the judges cards he lost 4 to Tszyu and 1 each to Maussa, Pauli & Urango, effectively 7 rounds on the cards in 7 championship fights at 140 before Pac. Cotto dropped more and also got rocked to his socks twice. Really no reason to think Cotto knocks Hatton out easily at 140
You never specified the 140 when talking about hatton's career. You said outside his two fights. Cotto got dropped more because he fought tougher fighters
Godfather is reacting emotionally. Honestly, at 140, I'd favor Cotto, but this isn't an easy fight like Hearns/Cotto or Duran against a helpless teenage boy covered in olive oil. I just think Cotto is more durable than China chinned Ricky.
