I was just watching Ponce v Gamboa and Rios would have smashed the bananas out of him. He was winning a shutout but barely winning the rounds. Ponce is a left handed scrub. Rios is a scrub, but big vicious scrub. Gamboa probably looked at himself in a mirror and realized he was a midget.

HBO has officially canceled #boxing for April 14, which means no Rios-Gamboa. But @trboxing says Rios will still fight somebody.

It would have been like Rios-Acosta.

Gamboa would probably have started well but Rios would have worn him down and given him a beating.

That said, with this little chicken shite move, you have to wonder what becomes of Gamboa now.

Agreed. A big, strong, vicious mongoloid scrub.

He does have offensive skill though, good at picking his shots and fighting inside, good punching technique and accuracy.

I agree with you though, I was pretty confident of a Rios victory, even though I was pulling for Gamboa.

Rios isnt a scrub. There is a reason Gamboa has quit the sport.

No he isn't, but the term "big vicious scrub" is too good to disagree with.

The biggest question in all of this is why the fuck did Gamboa even agree to this fight in the first place, only to pull the uber bitch move of pulling out when the fight was officially on in everyone's eyes.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rios never looks good again if he can't make 135, because boy oh boy he's going to suck when he's not stronger than his opponents.

Your point is a good one, but my opinion is he'll still be stronger and tougher than almost everyone at 140. 147 would be the step too far.

Could be. He doesn't strike me as the most disciplined guy out there, wouldn't be shocked if his stay at 140 is a short one.

Do you watch the esnews videos on youtube. Brandon is in the gym year round. I think he would do better at 140.

Brandon is a pretty hard worker.

Loves to train and loves to fight.

So why does he show up fat when fighting on short notice?

@corey_erdman: A source tells me Rios-Abril will be paired with Juan Manuel Marquez-Cesar Cuenca as a Latin Fury PPV on April 14. #boxing

Rios would get smashed at 140. Hes just a brawler.

Bob's probably going to try to make JMM-Rios and the winner for Pac, that'd be an interesting fight.

You wouldn't be interested in JMM-Rios? I meant that fight not Pac vs. either of them

I don't understand why Alvarado wasn't bumped up to the main event to keep it on HBO. Latin Fury does 10,000 buys.

when Gamboa was a no show for the first press conference in Miami, they sent some other unknown Cuban contender named Richard Abril to start shit with Rios and try to get a fight. Apparently that's who he is fighting.

Alvarado apparently is the co main event. Even Alvarado himself said he would have taken the fight if it was offered to him.

I dont' get this Rios-Abril fight. It's pointless!

Never seen Abril fight, I saw the clip from the press conference though and he head butted Rios in the face. The guys last fight was a win over Acosta. His only losses are to Hank Lundy and Bredis Prescott, and many people think he was robbed in both of his losses. I just read that his amateur record is 213-5 Not too bad.

Anyone seen this guy fight? Especially the Lundy and Prescott fights?

No shame in losing to Prescott. Let's see what he's got.
