Macklin vs Martinez - Brook vs Hatton predictions

Maybe the worst thing Macklin did was sell that BS knockdown....he seem to have woken Martinez up.

 

I disagree. He runs. defense is part of the sport. Killing the clock is what Martinez does. He fights 45 seconds of a round.

 

European/WBO, tops. Martinez is overrated.

 

The single most impressive thing about Martinez is how he makes guys hold their hands. He keeps you guessing and keeps you wondering, long enough for him to do his own thing and blunt your offense. Its an underrated talent. But he's no monster either.

Martinez IS good, I mean he has attributes to make him a threat and does some things really well but you can get to him. He's vulnerable. He's like Valencia if Manny and Floyd are Real Madrid and Barcelona. 3rd, but a long way off the top two.

I hate Martinez as a fighter. As Illumaniti said he seems a decent guy but much like Wald the Uber Tink, his style is disgusting.He bores even when he kayos people.

Agreed. He underestimated Macklin early, and was sleep walking. Once he took shit seriously, and let his hands go, the difference in class showed.

Anyway Martinez is average at best, he is lucky Hopkins, Wright, Trinidad, Vargas are no longer around....

 

McGirt gets credit for one thing: pulling a guy out when he has had enough- Brewster, Malignaggi, and now Macklin. Mack deserves credit for not running when he realized he couldn't win, he kept going, its the same old problem with him, he lacks the variety to change it up and he never finishes strong- Jamie Moore, Sturm and now this.

 

Martinez is weird. He can fight, I've always know he can fight, but he has the sort of style and the sort of vulnerabilities that mean he doesn't really dominate people, even if he ends up winning and KOing people.

For such an allegedly boring fighter, he sure does have a high KO% in his recent championship fights.

I agree he could have got Mackles out of there in 5 or 6, which is what I predicted.

He seemed to be going through the motions until he got that bogus knockdown, then kind of woke up and started beating Mackles up.
