I thought the production was garbage. There was absolutely no set-up. This show launched into fights as if every viewer already knows the history and how the show works. They could have done a much better job touching on previous seasons, how the format works, and most importantly, left the mic away from Dana White. AND the show ran over the time slot. I have no idea who won the last fight or if they picked teams yet. It sucked plain and simple.
That's definitely part of it, and shows that this "live" stuff is just a gimmick and a bad idea. We have UFC PPV's to look forward to live, between fighters we know and matchups we've analysed etc, there's really no reason for TUF to be live, it makes the show worse.
I couldn't agree more. Especially the first paragraph. Way to win new fans. If my girlfriend had watched this show first as her introduction to TUF, there's no chance she would have wanted to watch more.
Funny how we are mentioning women. My wife usually watches with me. She watched about a half an hour and checked out. She said it was boring. I really hope now that they have the selected guys, they go back more to the original style of the show.
Come on guys, you don't have to make up wives and girlfriends to impress us. It's ok if you still live in your mother's basements. I don't think any less of you.
Good episode. Sad about Cheese's dad dying. I thinkt he better guy lost too. Damn. I thought he would go really far.
Thats real shit, homies. Chesse aint no punk. His dad has been an ass most of his life. But we all wanna make Pops proud. Mike is a down ass mothafucker, if you don't know, you will soon. This kid is trailerpark. Straight up. He's foughts gangstas, rednecks, its all the same to him. He has been poor like most don't know about in the US. He has a hunger that burns like I haven't seen. I love this kid. :rock1:
Im excited about next weeks fight. Classic striker vs. grappler matchup, except it looks like Lawrence may have a decent ground game as well. Should be exciting.
Yeah, watching him wrestle in the training clip during last week's episode, he looks like a very solid wrestler. It will be fun to see him as he climbs the ladder on the show.
I think he has to be legit if he gets an invite to train at Blackhouse and sparred with Anderson himself.
I think I'll retract my Chiesa over Lawrence pick :: Lawrence looked good in his first fight, but looked like a pure striker. If the training footage is anything to go by he looks like a solid wrestler too, which means he's going to be hard to beat. BTW Like fuck the better fighter lost. I'd pick the big lanky Texan in a rematch too. He looks kind of scrubby but he can fight. The Powernerd/Jock hybrid with the high pitched voice looks average as anything, and there's nothing he did in the fight to suggest he'd win a rematch.
Lawrence wrestled in high school and placed in state in all 3 years. I also hear that he only has 1 "true" loss in his whole fighting career which includes mma, boxing, and kickboxing, pro and amateur. And that loss was a SD.
you obviously weren't watching the same match... He was losing before he landed a lucky knee, and I call it luck cuz it wasn't even supposed to be a knee, he threw a kick and the guy went for a takedown...it wasn't like he meant to do it...
Yeah, I gotta agree. He was definitely getting outclassed until the knee. Vick wasn't even using this great boxing he talks about. I didn't even see one jab, which you would think with his height, would be a staple in his arsenal. I think Vick gets subbed in first round and fairly easy next fight.
Doesn't matter, neither fighter was doing much of anything. You're talking as if the powernerd was putting a whupping on him, that wasn't the case at all. Vick was just stalking him, waiting to land something big, and he did, kick, knee, doesn't matter, it landed, and knocked him out cold. I'd pick him in a rematch too.
Why, because there was a non eventful fight in which neither fighter did much, then one fighter brutally knocked the other one the fuck out, and I DON'T think the one that got knocked out is a better fighter? :: I don't know, I kind of think the people who think the powernerd is better are crazy, in all honesty. If he was better, he either would have won or would have been beating the shit out of Vick before eating the "lucky" knee. I simply saw no evidence at all that he was better.
I tend to agree with you. I think the powernerd(love that term, stole it from you) was the better fighter and most likely would have won a boring decision. I think he didn't expect it to be that hard to get inside on Vick. Anyway, like you said, neither one would do much more in the show so it is a moot point.
Yeah, he looked solid again. We still don't have a clue really how good he is on the ground. The TD defense was solid, but BJJ really doesn't have great takedowns. But its obvious, he is definitely the favorite.
Good result all the same, but he didn't look as good in this fight. Looked more nervous and jittery, and a bit more scrappy.
WTF..... I DVR'd this week's episode to watch later and the damn thing ran late with the fight requiring a 3rd round. I didn't get the 3rd round or the result. Arghhhhh!!! I blame Dana White.
