    Martinez easy.

Trinidad hates movement, hates jabs, hates counters, hates pretty much anything apart from a guy standing in front of him like Campas or Mayorga.

I agree. I think Tito stops him late.

    Basically yes.

Combined with excellent handspeed, good counterpunching, and a serviceable jab, it's a sure fire loss for lead footed anvil man.

It's also hard to land a left hook against a southpaw. Tito's "reaper's scythe" needs to be a factor for him to win.

    Martinez by decision.

Absolutely. And don't forget Tito needs a few seconds to set his feet before swinging his big heavy left hook round. Just imagine how frustrated he'd get at Martinez's constant "running" as Ike puts it.

Tito's style would suck against Martinez. A patient, plodding, 1 dimensional puncher.

Mex is underrating the shit outta Tito, and overrating the shit outta Martinez.

I'd pick any version of Tito, pre-Hopkins, to beat Maravilla.

It's not just Mex. It's just fashionable these days to pretend like Trinidad could never fight.

He could fight, i think Martinez beats him though. I did however pick Vargas over Sergio.

Yeah, it has been a trend for awhile.

Tito was an awesome fighter. DEFINITELY overrated pre-Hopkins, but underrated since then.

He'd easily rule 154-160 if he was prime today. No one in those divisions is a FRACTION as good as prime B-Hop.

Next thing ya know, people will be saying Ginger and Chavez Jr. would have beaten Tito.

Given Nando's chin, I wouldn't be confident in picking him over Martinez.

Nando could be doing very well, then BAM! Walk into a Martinez counter he never sees, and end up getting stopped.

It took Trinidad 12 round to stop him, I don't see Martinez is doing it. Tito may have cracked Nando's chin, but it was serviceable at the least before that.

It's certainly possible, but i favor Vargas.

Definitely Martinez in this one. It's a horrible style match up for Trinidad.

    Trinidad via UD.

These days any flashy, fast fighter gets picked over Trinidad.

Tito was taller, had better punching technique, and good enough hand speed. He'd eventually find the range on Martinez who's defense isnt really that good. Doesnt really have a great jab either. Tito would wear him out.

Trinidad with his special wraps wins. But without 'em (on a fair playing field), he loses one-sidedly.

Trinidad. Martinez is nothing special. Who has he beaten?

I thought KO2 Williams was impressive.

Pavlik, who was better than Tito, and looked good against likes of Dzinziruk and Williams, who are at the same level as Tito's best wins apart from Vargas (and DLH, whom he did not beat). Also, Martinez has many of the same advantages over him Wright and Oscar had

Pavlik better than TRINIDAD? You are very funny....Neither Dzin or Williams are as good as Fernando Vargas at 154..

Pavlik was not better than Trinidad.

  27. Ugotabe Kidding

Yes, Pavlik beats Tito head to head. Tito was bit faster, Pavlik bit stringer, their punching power was equal and both were befuddled by footwork. As for your second point, I know my post was a bit too long for reading...

I'd probably pick Trinidad over any Pavlik... but the drunk who fought Martinez loses to Tito no doubt.

Actually I think Pavlik was a better middleweight than Trinidad. I'd pick him over Tito at 160.

I can see where you're coming from before Pavlik's recurring staph infections.
