Thought this was interesting. What's the deal with Henry's career? He's not on HBO, Showtime or even espn. He's basically a glorified sparring partner as of late. I dont see him making any moves in terms of his career. Known as the Cotto clone I have seen some of his fights via youtube and he does have a exciting style. Anyone here know why he's not landing any noticeable fights on any networks??

Bruceles was a good prospect. He adapted the Cotto style but was too slow. As soon as he stepped it up he failed. I still remember Mayweather dominating him.

That's exactly what he's known as, being Nick Diaz's sparring partner, then unleashing the earth shattering news that he was making the big jump from boxing to MMA.

If this story is true then Omar is throwing his career away taking beatings as a sparring partner.

Omar Henry is From Chicago & Made a Small Bit of Noise on the Houston Area Amatuer Boxing Scene...Right Out of the Gates he Signed w/Top Rank, who Showcased him on Several High Profile Cards Throughout the Texas Area...He Also Sparred Extensively w/the Likes of Manny Pac...

Somehow, he Burned Bridges w/Top Rank who Presumably Decided to Let him Sit & ROT, while Still Under Contract...Not Really Sure what he Did to Fall Out of their Good Graces, but it was Potentially a Career KILLER...

Very NICE, APPROCHABLE Young Man, who Probably Got Some BAD Advice....

Pretty important lesson for young fighters not to get above their station tbh.

I absolutely hate seeing fighters skanked or taken advantage of, but at the same time they have to respect the "man", and do as their told until they have some clout of their own.

Idiots start thinking they're big shots after 10 fights and burning bridges, pissing people off who can help them.

You sure he sparred with Manny? He turned Manny down when he asked him to help him prepare for Cotto. Did he help him for the Margarito fight?

I also just read that he signed with Don King in 2011

He Spent a Good Deal of Time @ the Wild Card Gym, During the Early Portion of his Career...REED was Under the Impression that Henry Sparred w/Manny in Preparation for the Cotto Fight...

Ringside Mike would Know for Sure, as he was Henry's Publicist Back Then...

    This is Omar Henry:http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/blog/?p=5921#more-5921

He was a personal friend of mine, have not seen him in the last couple of years since he bolted Houston, but he was one hell of a prospect at one time.

REED is right, nice kid but appears to have gone a bit bananas since the Top Rank debacle.

On one hand he brags that Floyd nearly knocks this cat out, then claims he and everyone thinks Henry is a bum. So......big deal then because Floyd was beating up on a bum? I guess?
