yup, whoever wins this just has to go grab the Ruby, Jade, Super Ruby, Super Bronze, FECARPyrite and Super Cubic Zirconium belts and they will be UNDISPUTED!!!!

(until they lose three of them from having three different, yet simultaneous mandatory challengers)

    "
The WBC explains it like this: “There are no rules. This is not a championship which has to be defended. It doesn’t have the same obligations as the world champion. It is a tribute to the fight, to both fighters and the winner takes it without having to defend it. It has no rankings. It’s simply a fitting recognition of a brilliant career.â€￾"

I am ambivalent. If it makes boxers more money, I'm generally in favor of it. However, it creates confusion in the general public and simpleton fans, who should know better, just use it to criticize belts, in general. Since this is a predictable outcome, I guess I'm more against it than for it.

Admit it, you only use the WBC Diamond belt to criticize belts. :nono:

Can't they arrange the contract so they can fight 12 rounds without a belt on the line?

U've just VERBALIZED the Argument Used by MOST Boxing Fans, Against the PLETHORA of Sanctioning Bodies...CLEARLY, they've Created "Confusion" Amongst the General Public, yet "Simpleton Fans" Like YOU Continues to B OUTSPOKEN in FAVOR of them...

It's a Shame that it Took a Friggin DIAMOND BELT for you to Actually GET It...

Did you graduate from high school? That's a serious question, by the way. Your reading comprehension skills are surpassed by average 6th graders.

I'm not a simpleton fan, nor am I a member of the general public when it comes to boxing. If a person from one of these groups wishes to bitch about legit sanctioning body belts (USING all caps IN various PLACES to make INSIPID points, for EXAMPLE), I don't care. Legit sanctioning body belts are a net gain to the sport and it isn't close.

Some dipshit honorary belt, otoh, might be a net gain to specific boxers, but it probably isn't a net gain to the sport.

CONTRARIAN BULLSHIT Artistry Aside, it SHOULDN"T Take the Critical Thinking Capacity of a 3rd Grader (Nevermind a 6th) to REALIZE that the "Legitimacy" of Sanctioning Bodies LESSENS, when there's Sooooo MANY Of them...

4-5 "Champions" PER Division ISN'T a Good Thing, mikE...Nonetheless, U PERSIST in Beating your Head Against that Brick Wall, in SUPPORT of the Proliferation of them...

    1, Even 2 Sanctioning Bodies ARE GOOD for the Sport...REED Agrees w/you on that...But 4, 5 or MORE???...It's OVERKILL...

Well, now you are changing the argument, aren't you? Acknowledging that sanctioniing bodies might be good for the sport, but bitching about the number of them. I preferred 3, but I was well ahead of the curve in recognizing that there were actually 4 legit belts. I do not believe a good argument can be made that there are 5. I also do not believe a good argument can be made that the current 4 are a net negative for the sport. In some ways? sure. Overall? No way.

However, we've done this many times before and you might as well bump an old thread if you want to debate it some more. It's not like there are any new arguments on either side, afaik.

This thread is about the WBC doing the diamond belt thing.

HOW is REED Changing the Argument???...EVERY Sport has a "Champion" of Some Sort & Boxing Should B Nooooooo Different...When has ANYONE Ever Argued AGAINST that???...

REED Grew Up in an Era where it was JUST the WBA & WBC, which Certainly WASN'T Perfect Either...But N Most Cases, BOTH Champions were Actually GOOD Fighters & On the Occasions when they Unified, it was Typically a HUGE, Mainstream Boxing Event...Nowadays, Even Most HARDCORE Boxing Fans R Fucking OBLIVIOUS to when Unification Bouts Take Place, Nevermind Mainstream Fans...Why???...Because there's Tooooooooo Many Sanctioning Bodies...

There's a Lack of CLARITY in Boxing that's a DIRECT RESULT of Toooooo Many Sanctioning Bodies...REED Recalls a Time when Joe Blow Could Name the Heavyweight Champ AND Quite Possibly the Welterweight, Lightheavy or Middleweight Champion Too...Nowadays???...Joe Blow is LUCKY to Name Even 1 Belt Holder, Nevermind the Legitimate "Champion" of a Particular Division...

Floyd &/or Pac's Name would B Uttered, but Floyd RETIRES Sooooo Much it's Hard to Tell If/When he Actually HOLDS a Title...Pac Weight Hops Soooooo Much, REED has Given Up Trying to Keep Up w/What Belt he's Fighting For, on a Particular Occasion...

Again, it's Because there's Toooooo Many Sanctioning Bodies...More Times than Not, the Existence of Various Sanctioning Bodies PREVENTS Meaningful Fights from Happening, as Opposed to the Optimal Effect...Even your Angle about Fighters "Getting More Money" as as Result of Multiple Sanctioning Bodies is FLIMSY...Belt Holders Pay a Sizable % of their PURSES for the "Right" to Fight for a Particular Championship...SANCTIONING FEE'S, in Other Words...

This Diamond Belt BULLSHIT is Being Offered Up by the WBC as a TRANSPARENT Attempt @ Getting into the Pockets of Floyd AND Cotto, Both of Whom will Obviously Take Home HANDSOME Purses...

1 is Perfect...2 is Faulty, but Manageable...3 is a CROWD & 4 or More is BOGUS...REED's Argument is CONSISTENT, mikE...The FEWER Sanctioning Bodies we Have (Acknowledging that EVERY SINGLE Sport has a "Champion"), the Better...

Your argument has nothing to do with the WBC Diamond belt.

    You made one relevant point:

"This Diamond Belt BULLSHIT is Being Offered Up by the WBC as a TRANSPARENT Attempt @ Getting into the Pockets of Floyd AND Cotto, Both of Whom will Obviously Take Home HANDSOME Purses..."

    Who has disputed this?

It doesn't help that they're all laughable, poorly run (if not corrupt in every case) organizations.

ALL Sanctioning Bodies Function for the SAME Fucking Purpose; to Get into the Pockets of Fighters (their Managers, Promoters or Whomever)...For Some Reason, YOU have this Image of Sanctioning Bodies Being Kindhearted, Benelovent Entities who Exist Soley to "Make More Money" FOR the Fighters...The Truth is, They're Making Money OFF OF The Fighters...

When All of their Championships R Tied Up, SUPER Champions are Created...Or Interim Champions or even DIAMOND Champions...It's All CONNECTED, mikE...U're just IGNORING it to Suit your Silly Infatuation w/Sanctioning Bodies...

I don't have the image of sanctioning bodies you say I do. Again, you are changing the argument and focal point so you can bitch about sanctioning bodies in general. Much like bigots and prejudiced people do in other contexts.

I've stated what my opinion is of the WBC diamond belt and you've done little, if anything, to address that opinion. You tell me why that is?

I don't think we are arguing about anything, but Reed is too Reed to figure that out or show otherwise.
