I apologize if you think I attacked you. That was not my intention. I just thought your opinion was a bit misinformed. However, I did misunderstand a bit and thought that you meant "all" soccer players in general. I do realize that there is a difference in talent between the US and Europe. Donovan vs. Lewis may have been a poor example due to the difference in class. Lewis vs. Messi may be more applicable. No hard feelings. :truce:
Soccer is a pussy sport. Wearing bike helmets is for pussies unless you live in a city or are doing dangerous stuff. Fighting is part of hockey and should continue to be a part of it. I don't mind car seats, but they should be in the front seat if you don't have another full sized passenger. Soccer is a pussy sport.
Again, Dana shouldn't be saying stuff like this because he's trying to grow the UFC's popularity in places where Soccer is huge. Terrible thing for him to say from a business perspective. That being said, I totally endorse his comments. I am proud white trash that grew up playing real sports and laughing at the pale, sickly, under-sized, mama's boys that played soccer. Back then, kids that couldn't play football or baseball were faced with playing soccer or taking up the violin after school. One of the few things that is still great about America is the fact that soccer isn't a mainstream professional sport. Most people believe the economy, China, or poor leadership will eventually be the downful of this great country. Personally, I think that day comes when the average male between the ages of 0 and 120 would rather watch soccer than having his testicles pounded flat with a wooden mallet. It is an absolute nightmare on the eyes, and I suspect long-term spectating will probably be the catalyst to a zombie apocalypse with the dumb-downed, mind-numbed masses looking to feed on human flesh to escape the perpetual, Chinese water toture-like misery that comes from a brief glimpse of even the most well-played soccer game. J/K Love that sport.
And I undestand and respect your opinion. However, it really is inappropriate for someone of Danas position to express to the media. He is alienating people that could also be fans of his company. Im sure he'd have a couple of profanity laced insults to hurl at someone who criticized Dana for being an unathletic wanna be trainer who couldn't cut it in boxing so he ran to the UFC.
As clarification, my J/K meant I was joking about soccer. But I was serious about Dana White needing to keep his mouth shut about soccer when he will likely be in Brazil in a few month. Despite taking aim at Sonnen, I'm sure the Brazilians will have a blow dart or two left for White.
Dana opinion regarding soccer is beyond ridiculous but I don't think it hurts anything beside him. But on general, I agree that White isn't professionnal enoubhg to be the face of a pro sport. To his credit, he has made huge imporvement in that department but he should drop the pissed off tough guy act if he wasnts MMA to go to the next level or, since his gimmick works very well with young fans, he should maybe concentrated on that segment and let the Fertitas or another person do the work with more mainstream venue.
The best players in the world are much more gifted athletes than any MMA fighters. Ronaldo and Messi are freaks.
All you need to do in MMA is jump in the ring a punch the guy on the chin ?? That was a dumb ignorant comment, while I like Dana he has form. I think he is doing a pretty good job but I've send it before, for MMA to really compete with other established sports - there is no room for a guy like Dana.
I think the reason soccer/football is the most popular sport in the world is because it requires very little to play it at an early age. You need a ball...any size...and the ability to kick. Hence, for children this is what they know, grow up with and become crazy about it. Saying "soccer is gay" makes you as much of an ignorant, base-level twat as Dana came across. It's the same as a rugby fan saying, "(American) football is pussy compared to rugby because they wear helmets/pads" (which, of course isn't true but you can see where the comparisons come from) I think the reason Americans get all in a bother about football/soccer, is because the USA is probably the one country in the world where it isn't globally the 'most watched sport', 'most played sport' or 'most revenue-generating sport'
I understand the not liking soccer part, but how you can make such a ridiculous comment regarding the skill level of the players is beyond me. Shows either a) total lack of understanding of how sports are structured or b) crude intelligence designed to bring media attention to his commentary
football is awesome, the best game in the world. no wonder the americans don't like it, they're fucked in the head.
If seen some UFC MMA fights that resembled 2 3 year olds fighting in the front yard. Minus the tattoos and condom depot advertisements of course.
Not sure why I got so pissed off at your post, just read it again, didn't seem like an attack at all. I'm gonna guess my vagina was burning a bit that day. We're cool homey.:truce:

Please. Soccer obviously takes skill and Dana was just being facetious on that point to stir the hornets. It obviously worked. The real criticism to soccer is that it is a pussy sport. I'd bet on 5'9" Dana White to kick the shit out of 6'2" Jimmy Conrad. Even if Conrad throttled him, though, it still wouldn't change what soccer is.
So far i've learned: 1) Any publicity is good publicity. (Dana following Madonna's "strategy") 2) The ability of athletes in one sport to beat up athletes in a completely different sport is relevant.
yeah it's funny, some of these guys buy anything this clown says. They are even so gullible that they believe that Dana is a legit bad boy, cause he said so. Btw while I agree that Dana is sometimes bad for MMa, there's nothing wrong in that comments he said, yeah it's ridiculous but he was obviously being facetious
Who said that? All I said was that Tito pussed out of a sceduled boxing match with Dana. He was a no show for the weigh in, he dissapeared the day before the fight. This is a fact.
