Sorry to post such an awful fight, but man, you have to love that Mills was taking points as early as round 2.

    I miss Mills.

Imagine a Wlad-Akinwande fight. The referee would need a crowbar to separate them.

I liked his strict line to fouling and especially clinching (also in Tyson-Bruno II) but overall he wasn't among my favorite refs. He interfered and talked too much and his "Hey hey hey" commands when he meant stop or break were stupid.

    Lewis really wasn't blameless there

Yes he was. Perhaps not in the first, but as the fight wore on he was completely blameless. For some reason I watched the entire thing today.

Of course he wasn't, he's the most boring, cowardly, negative cunt of an elite heavyweight in boxing history.

In the end when he realizes Lane is gonna soon disqualify Akinwande, when Akinwande first clinches him Lewis holds his hand under his arm, giving an impression that Akinwande refuses to let go. Surely, Akinwande deserved the DQ and Lewis did actually try to trade but he also took advantage of the situation.

Also, when two tall guys fight, clinches are bound to happen - there were like ten clinches in the first minute of Lewis-Grant too and also Lewis and Vitali, despite the furious exchanges got tangled up often. Thus short arms good long arms bad

When one guy is trying to punch before, during and after clinches and the other guy is only initiating clinches... the punching guy cannot be blamed. IMO, of course.

I just did too, and I'd agree with that assessment. It started out almost 50/50 then bit by bit became all Henry by the end. Great stuff by Mills Lane.

All true. All I am saying is that Lewis too refused to let go in the end to get the DQ. And I am not saying that to criticize, Lewis is a great human being

Yeah, beautiful display of reffing. The early point deduction should be way more common when the holding is that blatant.

You might be losing your job and you watched an entire Akinwande fight?

I don't like where this is going. :pathetic:

Somewhere out there John Ruiz was watching this fight on the edge of his seat.

Guys like Hatton, Molina, Hopkins and Alexander would never win a fight if Lane was the ref.

I was live in attendance for this fight. Doh!

Luckily I was in my favourite place in the USA, Lake Tahoe, you can pretty much be happy in at Lake Tahoe no matter what sporting event may go wrong.

....nothing about having long arms precludes learning to fight inside. Plenty have done it.

Yep. Funny that Steve is such a Lewis fan but hates Wlad Pussy. Makes no sense. Wlad and Lewis were equally boring or very close to be being equally negative, risk averse and cuntish

They could be equally as boring at times. Long jab, clinch when the opponent gets close etc.

Lennox would at least attempt to fight inside when it was brought to him. He'll never be remembered as a great in-fighter but he wasn't as inept as Wlad. Klitschko has only one respone to guys that get close. HOLD ON.

Honestly, until after the Lamon Brewster quitjob Wlad was exciting. He has been awful every single time since, but he had 20 good exciting fights. I would say say if you graded each fight Wlad may actually technically be more fun to watch. Lewis was boring more often than not start to almost finish. His last fight was good, but vITALI mafde him retire like a bitch.

I guess Lewis would have lost the first round of the Tyson fight then.:atu:

People tend to forget how much Lennox used to hold.
