If you're Joe Silva, which of the other HW's fighting at UFC 146 would you most like to see challenge JDS? Remember, the question isn't about who deserves it, but who would provide the best match-up:

    Frank Mir
    Cain Velasquez
    Roy Nelson
    Antonio Silva
    Shane Del Rosario
    Gabriel Gonzaga
    Mark Hunt
    Stevan Struve

I know 4 of them (Struve, Cain, Gonzaga and Nelson) would be rematches but pick the best match-up.

Oddly, and sadly for the state of the HW division, I'd probably pick Hunt. He'd get schooled but he is the best puncher of the bunch and would probably have the best chance of pulling off the upset.

:l1: The UFC heavyweight division is in a state of chaos. Even Dana White admitted it. He doesn't know what to do, now that Lesnar is gone and Overeem has been exposed as a roid freak. They don't have anybody else they can market. UFC's heavyweight division = today's heavyweight boxing division. Both are sh*t. JDS is Wladimir inside a cesspool of sh*t talent.

Hunt gets my vote. As long as it stays standing, Hunt has a great chance

    Hunt is garbage!

  5. Shoeshiner

Says something about the HW division then, because Hunt can stand with just about anyone.

So could Tim Sylvia. But that doesn't mean we should give out title shots.

Overeem f*cked over the UFC big. Dana is massively pissed.

Cmon man. Hunts striking is on a whole other level.

Hunt. Everyone loves an underdog story and on top of that Hunt is a pretty good banger with good power and chin just like JDS. It would be a stand up war till JDS stops an exhausted Hunt in the second. And TRUST ME JDS would stand with Hunt. JDS is very confident in his stand up until somebody proves him otherwise. So let's see here

    Compelling story ? Check
Styles making an exciting fight? Check
Good chin to make it last more than a minute? Check

Henderson. He deserves it after his last great fight. He can handle heavyweights. He might lose, but he could also win. He isnt beating silva and he isnt beating bones. Give him JDS.

You seriously thin Hendo a better shot against JDS than Anderson or Jon ? You crazy man. You just crazy!

hunt or hendo. preferrably hendo since it could be more exciting and i'd love to see henderson trying his best to pull it off.

Mir deserves is more than anyone else at this point. Hunt does not deserve a fucking title shot. As much as I like Hunt, he just doesn't deserve it.

It's not about deserving it's about entertaining the fans who pay 50 bucks to be enterteined. We all know Mir gets ko'ed in the first 60 seconds at least Hunt will bang with JDS for a round and a half.

of course i do. Nelson landed shots regularly on JDS and i think Hendo punches harder and is quicker. He already got his ass handed to him by Silva and Jon Jones' style is too much for hendo too.

It's not the WWE. I want to see the most deserving guy get the shot. Giving Hunt a title shot will set the UFC credibility way back.

I'd go with Cain as I think he is the best of the guys listed, although I'm having a hard time remembering del rosario.

The UFC needs some legit heavyweight strikers. The pool of sh*t they got now is awful. Basically most of them aren't even as good as Tim Sylvia in their striking.

    Nah, Cain sucks too.

It's not like Cain was getting stopped by bums, he got caught against JDS. Other than that he's been very solid.

Honestly, he has not beaten any top fighters.

He beat lesnar and he beat Nog and he beat kongo. Nog and kongo are gatekeepers, so he definitely belongs at the top.

Mir is the obvious choice, but I heard that Mir-Cain wasn't getting cancelled even though Reem failed his test. Hunt would be the coolest choice but I suspect JDS would word for a sub and indeed, it would kind of make the UFC look bad.

thinking about it, giving Werdum a rematch wouldn't be a bad choice either (in fact, it would be a bad choice, but considering the other option, not so much )

Cool responses. But remember, the question was only for the HW's fighting on the card already and it's about the best match-up rather who deserves a title shot.

But..... If it's open to anyone, I'd go like this:

    Henderson
    Werdum
    and then Hunt.

The thing about Henderson is that he will sell out trying to land the big shot and win. It would be fun while it lasted.

By the way, I think the HW division is shallow for the most part, but the fact that there were 5 compelling HW fights on this card is positive.

Without Z crying about deserving since it was stated at the beginning of the thread this is about who you would like to see not who deserves it......I would love to see Hunt. Why not? I think JDS would stand with him too, well for a minute until he hit Hunt with a great shot and watched him swing right back at him. Then it goes to the ground. But with that said, a Werdum rematch could work. Hendo would be a decent fight to watch but I really don't give him a chance. I would rather see Cain/Mir than see either one fight JDS at 146. And to everyone saying the HW division sucks with Brock and Overeem out, not even close. Cain is a legitimate HW and so is Mir. Nelson will give anyone a great fight. Cormier is coming up and hopefully Shoeshiner's boy Del Rosario keeps on his rise. Round that off with other guys mentioned and it is far from sucking.

JDS would stand with Hunt or anyone else. JDS ain't taking nobody down even if that would make it 100000x easier for him. JDS is THAT confident in his stand up and loves it so much he's not taking down anyone at all unless it's for shits and giggles at the end of the fight.
