Interesting main event. Gustafsson is one of the fastest climbers in the UFC's LH division. And this is Silva's first fight since getting suspended for trying to pass a urine test with dog piss.

Silva could be a big test for Gustafsson if he's healthy and his heads in the game. Both guys are primarily strikers and it should be fun.

The Main Card also features Dennis Siver dropping down to 145 lbs after climbing the ranks at 155 before losing to Donald Cerrone. And Siver doesn't get an easy featherweight debut as he draws Diego Nunes as an opponent. Nunes is one of the better 145 pounders on the UFC's roster.

Reminder: The main card is being broadcast live on Fuel TV starting at 3PM EST.

Pretty stoked for this myself. Enjoyable free card.

Never saw the Swede fight before but if you lose to that passive Phil Davis you can't be THAT good.

From what I've seen, he's not that good. Young thought so he can improve

Mother fucking Sakara, what is wrong with him to get into a brawl with a brawler, he should have just boxed him ( or at least try )

C'mon man, its Sakara. Hes terrible.

Very fun card though. Kinda disappointed it wasnt a 5 rounder. I thought all main events are 5 rounders now?

Gustaffson is decent, I think he will always be vulnerable to good wrestlers though.

What about whrn that tard Goldie kept going on about how he resembles Jones when he fights. Seriously?? Because hes tall?? Goldie gets worse every fight.

:giggle: Yep.... And Kenny Florian actually said Gustafsson is just likes Jones but with more power, I almost cried from laughing.

Jones and Gustaffson are both long and lanky strikers. That's it. That's all.

Seriously, I totally thought they were saying that shit to hype Gus for a fight with Jones after Rashad. Seriously. Where the fuck did that come from?:dunno:

Jones is a wrestler. His striking isnt anything special actually.

agreed, he's got length, but really he doesn't use that either. Not sure I can ever remember him using a jab. He is so rangy and strong at 205. Not to mention very athletic.

Jones is a dynamic striker no matter how you slice it.

The dude knocked down Bonnar with a spinning elbow. He basically ended his fight with Rua courtesy of a flying knee. He also essentially stopped Machida with a punch.

Most of it is pure athleticism, but make no mistake the dude can do as much damage standing as almost anyone in the division.

By the way, did anyone watch the Pre or Post fight show today? During both, Sonnen referred to Alessio Sakara as a former boxing champion. He went as far as to say that he held an IBF title and that was the same title (organization) that Muhammad Ali held.

WTF? I realize Sonnen is totally delusional but again, WTF?

I can't find where Sakara ever held a boxing title even a minor one. BoxRec shows Sakara as having an 8-1 record with his only title fight being a losing effort for the Vacant IBF Youth Cruiserweight belt.

LOL.... Yes the exact same as Ali......

The shame is cage fighting fans who don't know better are going to eat that shit up.

Not to mention Ali was long retired before the IBF even started.

Yes.... Exactly... There was nothing in his comment that was accurate.

I actually watched this main event. This Gustafsson guy looked pretty athletic, he moved well and his punches were sharp. The Silva dude was clumsy

Wish I could have seen this, I ain't buying another useless channel to watch this shit though. Fuel TV? Who has this shit?

It's on Directv. Fox is flooding FX, foxsports espanol, and Fuel with UFC content. I don't mind it at all. It is for the hardcore fans because it deals with interview shows and hype and followup. I don't think it will burnout regular fans because they won't watch it. Man, I wish boxing had a similar thing going.

I'm surprised Siver made 145. I don't know how these guys can drop so damn much weight (legally).

Thiago Silva is one scary looking dude though.

I thought both looked like garbage. Silva, for all the talk of him being super aggressive, once agains shows he's far from it and that he's reluctant to take risk when someone is hitting him in the face. He reminded me of the fat, unispired version of David Tua. Gustafson, to his credit, may be someone who's simply ankward but still belongs to the top tier.

Gustafson lost to Phil Davis, and as it turns out, Davis doesn't seem to be a top fighter at all. He was completely clueless agaist Rashad.
