Why did they even try lightweight again? I imagine because they know how awful he's going to be at 140 against fighters his size.

Hopefully this Abril fellow beats him up.

I have am not sure if I have seen Abril, but this fight has upset written all over it. Rios isn't good enough to overcome lack of preparation. If Abril is any good, he has a real good opportunity.

 

That's why I don't blame Gamboa for not moving up......by fight night Gamboa would be giving up inches in height.....and Rios would be 150-155 pounder..and Gamboa would be 135-136

 

Gamboa called Rios out. Rios accepted. Gamboa ran away.

 

The irony here is overpowering.

 

"Like I said before" gamboa would be moving from featherweight to lightweight to face a jr welter. If rios was forced to make 135lbs I think gamboa would have beat the fuck out of him. Problem is he wouldn't have made 35 and gamboa would have been stuck in a catch 22, either take the money or do like corrales did in the third castillo fight.

I blame top rank here. Once the gamboa fight fell through they shoulda put rios against a 140lber. Dunkin was telling some folks at the weigh in rios against alvarado (the logical match once gamboa backed out) aint happening because of money. They are gonna cash the kid out against marquez so a safer foe was required tonite

 

Rios might very well beat the shit outta Marquez.

 

Perhaps if Marquez doesn't have it anymore.

 

Would have been a huge buzzkill if Rios missed weight vs. Gamboa for sure. Still wish it was happening.

 

I saw Gamboa Vs Rios as a completely unfair fight. Rios is so much bigger it's not even funny.

I think Gamboa is far better, but would be pretty confident of a Rios win based almost exclusively on his size/strength/toughness advantage.

However none of that matters, Gamboa called him out, said he wanted the fight, agreed to the fight, then bitched out. If he was concerned about the size difference, which he had every right to be, don't fucking agree to the fight in the first place.

 

Alvarado fight was a logical fight to make. I don't understand why Top Rank didn't make it. Surely it wouldn't have cost more than Rios-Gamboa to make.

I'm watching a boxnation feed. Shitty stream though. Hope it hold up during the fights. Top rank had a nice feed for the undercards. I'd happily pay for a feed of that quality (don't have cable at the place I'm staying this month)

He's got such a strength advantage he doesn't have to. Herrera is really fighting on guts and instincts, he really doesn't seem to have any physical response.
