Three O'Clock High This is one of the forgotten gems of the 80's. A very underrated comedy that didn't got much love because it wasn't your typical teen feel good movie. The humor here is dark, but damn funny. It also creates intense tension similar to a thriller. it was because of this that the movie bombed at the box office and while critics recognized it as a good movie, most didn't recommend it because the ending wasn't pleasant to watch. The plot revolves around a high school nerd, Jerry Mitchell, who must write an essay about the hulking new boy, Buddy, who rumour says is a psychopath. Jerry accidentally touches this bully while at the restroom and as a result he must fight him at the parking lot at 3pm. Jerry spends the whole day trying to avoid this fight at all costs with funny results. There is a recurring close-up of the clock as the hours and minutes passes and Jerry is getting more desperate as the impending beating hour approaches. This film is vastly different from 80's teen films since it is plot driven and while it has many funny moments, it doesn't strike as unrealistic. This is a very good movie, one of the best of the 80's and definitely worth watching. 8/10

I saw it when it came out. The part where the bully breaks the football player's finger and punches him into the library bookshelves made me laugh when I was a kid, but I was a kid. I wonder how it would hold up now.

The first girl talking at the start of the movie went on to do the voice for Lisa Simpson on The Simpsons.

Yeah, I remember this flick. Didn't get much play when it came out but it was one of my favorites. I haven't seen it in years.

For years I thought the Coen Brothers had something to do with this movie (they don't), because it had such a similar style to one of their films (think Raising Arizona).

The guy who played Buddy Revell, the bully, is Richard Tyson, a longtime character actor who was in a number of movies I saw in the 80s and 90s. He was on the tv show Hardball, and he was the bad guy in Kindergarten Cop. He also had a bit part as the bartender at the place where Randy Quaid is stripping in the movie Kingpin.

I haven't seen this movie in ages, so I youtubed it and sure enough, it's him. He was Cullen Crisp in Kindergarten Cop.

Coincidentally, I've always thought your name was this Buddy and was going to quote the movie earlier this week with you and steve_dave.

    Perfect movie. 10/10

Buddy Revell: You know what Mitchell? You're the biggest pussy I've ever seen in my life. Didn't even try. How does that feel?

    Words to live by.

I sometimes wonder why Richard Tyson wasn't a bigger star than he was. The guy could act, and I thought he'd be a great action hero. I guess he had the soul of a character actor---or just a really shitty agent.

Adam Baldwin was "My Bodyguard". Another pretty active character actor.

Not familiar with "2 Moon Junction".

Tyson was in Two Moon Junction with Sherilyn Fenn, I think. My Bodyguard was, as Nobleart said, Adam Baldwin (who was also Animal Mother in Full Metal Jacket).

He was also in Kindergarten Cop, being stalked and bullied by Arnold. Kindergarten Cop is a great great movie! Arnold's prank calls originated from this movie.

Did you know that Steven Spielberg was one of the executive producers of Three O'Clock High, but after watching the final film asked to have his name removed? Was Spielberg embarrassed to be associated with this film, but he isn't about those brainless TRANSFORMERS films? LOL
