    I made a chin-up with 66 lbs (30 kg) extra weight!

Because this is my only gym result that I am pretty happy with, I am bragging with this.

Also, I think my bench is improving with this training method, it felt today I could do the 80 % series easier than last time. I don't think I could still do 220 lbs but I have about six weeks to reach it and right now I feel optimistic

Is it important to be consistent. I am starting to lift again after my injury but really am only doing 135. I am a bit frightened to be honest that my back is going to snap. THE DOCTORS said it might even help to lift weight. I was to 6-10 reps at 185 sort of plateaued at that weight.I had no system though. If I felt good, I'd lift 185 or weak 155 and do 6 sets of 6 to 10.

What are you trying to say? Is it pointless to do that many reps. My back is real fucked up.

For real? It only took me 1.5 years to get to 300. My first benchpress was 145lbs. That was my best. Then over 4 months, I brought it up to 205 with intense training. All I did was bench pressing 5 times per week. I brought it up to 285 about 6 months after and then hit 300.
That was many years ago. Then I began taking heavy doses of drugs including dianobol and sadanos-apri which is an indian fluid used to increase testosterone. I would inject at least twice per day. My best bench was 510lbs before I broke both of my arms and shattered my chest cavity when I dropped 600lbs on myself after a failed lift. Now I can only bench 175lbs.

I was never a real strong bencher..

When I started fight training my couch had me stop benching and only doing pushups s my chest was getting big and my flexibility was getting worse

If you want to strengthen your back, don't do bench presses. In fact, heavy bench presses can be bad for your rotator cuffs and if you're using too much weight you might start arching your lower back, which would not be a good idea for someone with a back injury.

Ah, you roided it. I've never gotten above 300lbs, but I've never roided. I thought about it, but it's not important enough to start fucking with my endocrine system.

For real Buddy? I thought you were in the 400 benching range at least. You certainly look like a powerful bencher based on your pics. Powerful build, etc. What's your best bench and deadlift?

Best bench is 280 for 2 and 300 for 1. Deadlift, I got up to deadlifting 385 for 8 reps. I don't know if I got more than 405 in the deadlift and it would have been only for 3-4 reps, but it's been at least a good ten years since I would have done so. Nowadays I max around 350 or so because I don't think heavy deadlifting is as great an idea as it was when I was younger and wanted to build my core strength. I don't squat as heavy as I used to either. Too many of those great bodybuilders and powerlifters wound up getting hip replacements and I don't want to end up like that.

Lou Ferrigno had both his hips replaced. Since I'm not competing and I was never anywhere near strong enough to compete successfully in any lifting competitions (Except maybe some rinky-dink small competitions like an inter-city competition), it didn't make sense to me to keep going superheavy all these years. I occasionally build up to something heavy, but I don't stay at that level of training. I want my joints to work properly in 20 years.

Funny you should post that, Ugo. I was doing that very routine in my backyard on the swingset yesterday. Only lost 1 tooth.

I've never really found a satisfactory way to train the lower body with bodyweight. Pistols and Glute ham raises would cover it i suppose, but i really don't enjoy pistols & glute hams are awkward without set equipment. So I squat and deadlift.

For upperbody b/w & weighted b/w is king! Bench press sucks, IMO
