Well there you go. Two goals in the last seconds of first-half injury time have fucked it. I think Real will go through now and win this and fuck Chelsea over. Its something of a pyrrhic victory for Chelsea, they lost a lot of big name guys for the final with the yellow cards. And Liverpool might just profit from this in the FA Cup Final too if Chelsea are still chasing 4th and getting ready for Munich.
:: It just HAD to be Torres scoring that last goal didn't it?? Anyhow, congrats to Chelsea. They FULLY deserved it. Barca's injuries and indifferent attitude this season caught up to them. I guess thats what happens when you win so much in the past 3 years. Time to regroup and start from zero. IMO, they'd be best off resting their starters for the remainder of the season, seeing as they have nothing to play for, coming in 2nd place. They have Copa del Rey but that would be best left for the youngsters to get some experience. There's Euro 2012 coming in June and the core of Spain's unit play for Barcelona. The likes of Xavi, Villa, Iniesta, Cesc, Puyol, and Pique should just take on some light playing time and get ready for the Euro. They're gonna need to be at their best. Plus there's next season. Don't need anymore long term injuries like what happened to Villa and Affelay. Hopefully Bayern beats Real tomorrow but I doubt it.
Torres scoring wasn't really the killer blow the press will say it was......Barca were going out in any case. As Hut himself said...."FML". My only real worry is that Newcastle will lose out on 4th.
Yeah Barca were going out for sure. They needed to score. But the Torres goal pretty much closed out whatever chances Barca had to score. New Castle should beat Wigan, and Chelsea could have a rough time against QPR. I think they should hold on to that 4th spot.
I got bored just watching Barca playing the ball.....from left, to right.....right to left......snooze
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Gary Neville's reaction to Torres' goal was......well, UNBELIEVABLE!! :laugh11::laugh11:
Yeah but if Chelsea win the Champions League then Newcastle won't qualify if they finish fourth. Stupid fucking rule.
Thats gotta be the dumbest rule I've ever heard of. Anyway, I seriously doubt Chelsea will win the CL. They're a good side but they were rather fortunate to catch Barca under the circumstances they did. Either Real or Bayern would destroy them in the final IMO.
Its worse watching the Italians defend and hoof aimless long balls forward all game long. At least Barca go out and try to win the game.
Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy watching Barca, but they weren't taking risks....they were trying to basically walk the ball into the net. They created space and opportunities to shoot, but they then decided to work the ball from left to right and so forth.....time after time. There were moments when the ball was chipped in to the box, but nothing came of it.
I do concede that Barca were not doing a whole lot. Dani Alves was absolutely HORRIBLE and just kept aimlessly crossing into the box, not once trying to beat his man. They really miss Villa this year. Other than Messi, there's no reliable goal scorers Barca can really turn to now.
Agreed. Real will be prepared to go more direct if they need to, and have players who can match the scum for strength. If it's Bayern, they'll be at home for the final, and the omens don't bode well for any British side trying to beat Bayern on their own patch (still hard to believe only Norwich have managed to pull it off ::). Not to mention the suspensions. Quite funny that we were able to achieve what Barcelona couldn't ::. YOU R's!!
I have a feeling Villa will come back strong for the Euros......if he is to recover fully by then that is.
:l2: Very true. Its a strange game sometimes. All this said, Real could have it tough tomorrow against Bayern. Bayern dominated them in Munich and could have easily won by a 4-1 score if Mario Gomez knew how to put sitters away. I do think at the Bernabeau though, that Real will be in prime form, especially with the emotional high they gotta be on after beating Barca at Camp Nou.
If anyone's in London area on 5 May feel free to join Jimmy and I in Shepherd's Bush. We're going to watch the FA Cup final and have a few pints. He, being a QPR fan, will be cheering against Chelsea and I, as an Evertonian, will be cheering against Liverpool. Notice I say cheering against and not cheering FOR anyone.
I doubt many will strongly want liverpool to lose given who they're playing. Joe can set us straight on that
