Maybe he's having a flashback to what JC Superstar did to him twice? A better call would be his fight with Freddie Pendleton. It is RARE that you see someone get that kind of leverage and pop on a punch. Freddie left Roger playing with half a deck.
YES!!! Case in point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E85Op-GICQY This is my favorite Mayweather fight aside from Floyd Sr's fight against Ray Leonard. A nice parallel is that both guys got cracked, laid on the ropes (No choice in the matter) and each took a flurry of unanswered hard shots to the head.
Yep. Pendleton, despite that bad record, was a pretty good fighter. You took a look at his Boxrec, and a lot of those loses were weeks or a month apart. A lot of short notice fights, where I imagine he learned some craft.
He isn't much of an imaginary fighter, it is not that big of a deal to defeat Pac in your memories. Karl Hegman did that years earlier and in much more impressive style
Subtitles would have been nice...couldn't understand half the shit he was saying...and the other half I could hear...
It was supposed to have subtitles but apparently the guy who does them said fuck this i don't get paid enough for this shit.
Fearless Freddie had great pop. I used to wonder what would have happened if he had been able to stop Ruelas when they fought for the title. Would DLH have picked Freddie as his first lightweight title attempt? Somehow I don't think so, but if he did, DLH would have gotten his chin checked.
Roger would have been a dangerous fight for Manny at 140. Not saying he'd win, but its no mismatch. Roger had the range, speed, and power to give Manny a difficult fight.
Henry Armstrong, his nephew and Pacquaio are the only ones going so far up in weight. Armstrong and Floyd legit, Pacquaio, a direct opponent in the same era that they don't want to fight, eventhough it would be the highest payday of his career, and the fight fans clamor for the most, cheated his way to boxing immortality. If Pacquaio looks spectacular, look for Floyd to use his numbers with Cotto to weasel out once again...
Can't see him giving Pacquiao a difficut fight to be honest. Not durable enough, I think Pac would fuck him up.
he was a tough guy, Pendleton. Mixed in with weird losses were dynamite wins like that one and his one round blitz of Tyrone Trice.
Roger was a good fighter with a great right hand and considerable skills. His chin was shaky at 130, but it's not like he got KOd by bums either. He was a better fighter overall at 140 and far more durable but the punch was not as formidable.
