For me, this is basically the undercard to the Mayweather-Cotto fight. And it's another solid free card from the UFC. Either of the 4 main card bouts could produce a Fight of the Night. Main card (FOX) Lightweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller Welterweight bout: Josh Koscheck vs. Johny Hendricks Middleweight bout: Rousimar Palhares vs. Alan Belcher Heavyweight bout: Pat Barry vs. Lavar Johnson Preliminary card (Fuel TV) Lightweight bout: Tony Ferguson vs. Michael Johnson Flyweight bout: John Dodson vs. Tim Elliott Welterweight bout: John Hathaway vs. Pascal Krauss Flyweight bout: Louis Gaudinot vs. John Lineker Lightweight bout: Danny Castillo vs. John Cholish Featherweight bout: Dennis Bermudez vs. Pablo Garza Preliminary card Bantamweight bout: Roland Delorme vs. Nick Denis Middleweight bout: Mike Massenzio vs. Karlos Vemola
I would love to watch this then Floyd/Cotto but I'm just not too keen on spending money on boxing cards. Unlike UFC cards you rarely get your money's worth.
I wouldn't order it, but luckily one of my good friends Dad who happens to live accross the street from me always orders the big fights and throws a BBQ.
Just cancelled on Steve_Dave. I'll see you at the BBQ. SD's great company but the week old Salmon dip and the stale Moosehead beer can't beat an American BBQ.
I think it will be one of the more exciting Floyd fights for a while. Cotto will at least make him earn it.
I really wish I could watch the boxing as well. I think this fight is a fight where Floyd has the biggest risk of losing since De La Hoya fight. It would suck missing him lose live :(
I appreciate and like that the UFC is jumping the gun on the boxing ppv and doing their telecast early. I think it will probably result in more viewers for them and fewer for the ppv and it builds goodwill. I think the ppv is trying to counter this by doing an all-afternoon preshow on HBO and by showing the undercard before the ppv card starts, but last time they did that it wasn't high quality stuff.
Hendricks is a GREAT wrestler. He has a better amateur pedigree than Koscheck. I think their wrestling will cancel each other out and force this to be a battle of striking. It should be interesting.
I hope Hendricks wins. I don't like Koscheck. Not even for his shit talking, I don't mind that just for the faking and stuff (Faking getting kneed in the face when he wasn't etc) and plus we're not seeing Koscheck GSP III for obvious reasons and Hendricks with this win should be right in line to fight Condit/GSP winner or at least Diaz.
Im actually looking forward to the Barry-Johnson fight as well. Nothing but big bombs in that fight for sure!
Holy shit. Nate Diaz put a sick beat down on Jim Miller. Miller is one of the MOST durable guys in MMA and Diaz choked him out in 2. Diaz deserves that title shot now.
Man, Pat Barry got beat DOWN. That Lavar guy doesn't hit as hard as Kongo though. He hit Barry with a hundred punches before he went down. I thought Koscheck won, but it was pretty close. He was really winging them in that first round. Damn, his hands were pretty fast. Nate crushed Jim Miller. Very impressive performance. Alan Belcher escaped Palhares' ground game and then thumped him out with elbows and punches. Good for Belcher that he was able to come back like that from having had a detached retina.
This card has done the worst MMA rating for an MMA event on network tv history. Even worse than any EliteXC and Strikeforce card.
Dude you had Cinco de Mayo, Mayweather vs. Cotto and the fucking avengers opening to 200 million dollars. You think Miller vs. Diaz on fox is going to have a huge rating? Get the fuck out of here with that shit.
A 1.0 rating on network tv in prime time is a terrible rating. People can go to movie theatres all day and mayweather-cotto cost $59.95. also the mayweather fight happened after the ufc event was done with. Dana said he expected much highwr ratings himself. being on network tv should get at least 5m viewers by default.
no doubt that the rating is terrible, I'm shocked that they did worst than any EliteXC card on netword tv did ( if it's indeed true). And I don't really see how Mayweather-Cotto affected the rating for the UFC considering the only fights they overlapted were Quintana-Latimore and maybe Vargas-Forbes neither of wich were must see tv to say the least.
