:Lok::Lok::Lok: And this guy has never been a champ. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/hM3IJLrVyws" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
LOL.. No way he affords that if all he got paid was the reported salaries. That's why I always take the hard line in these conversations that I have no idea what fighters make. So it's stupid to whine about something if you don't know all the facts.
How much is the house worth? The plane? I'd say the cars were purchased for ~ $125,000, $125,000, and $175,000 so let's say $450,000. Wiki says Koscheck has been on the UFC a record 19 times (soon to be 20), which probably doesn't count his TUF appearances. It obviously looks like he's made a lot of money, but that doesn't really prove anything one way or the other. You can be paid a lot and still be signficantly underpaid or vice versa.
He lives in California, that house would cost a fucking fortune. Even in shitty fucking fresno. Probably a million dollar house.
Is Fresno shitty? It's gotta be more expensive than that. I know someone in South Dakota with a similar house, but no pool and no waterfront and that house is maybe $750,000. I'm thinking Kos's house must be over $2M, at least, but maybe someone will know better.
I dont care what he has, if he has a loan on everything it really means nothing. I guarantee none of it is paid for.
:atu: at a loan. Yeah go tell the bank you want to by that kind of shit without them looking at your finances or ability to make a sufficient income. They will laugh you right out of the building.
I know it sucks when everything you THOUGHT you knew about the UFC pay comes back and slaps the shit out of you, but at least be man enough to admit you were wrong.
I just hope Kos is investing well and planning for the day when he can no longer fight in the UFC. He's probably got 3 years left. The UFC becoming successful has certainly given guys like Koscheck an avenue to pursue remaining an athlete and making money. If the UFC folded in 2000, what would Koscheck be doing right now? Coaching a High School wrestling team? Or fighting in small, shitty shows. I don't think a nice house and flashy cars necessarily mean Koscheck is rolling in the cash, but he seems happy and content.
He is a college graduate. Has a BA in Criminal Justice. He seems like a pretty smart guy. Im sure he is handling his finances just fine.
Smarter guys than him have blown far more. The list of former NFL players that made a fortune during their playing days and are now broke is endless. And most, the majority, graduated from college. It means nothing. As I said, I HOPE Koscheck is investing wisely. His ability to earn at his current level will end within 3-4 years. Then what?
Then people like Koscheck who have been with the UFC this long are given good behind the scenes jobs by Dana White. So in short he won't make the money he's making now but he won't be starving either I"m sure.
How did it come back and slap the shit out of me? I didnt claim anything about UFC pay scales. I just said that I doubt that everything is paid for. I guarantee you that house has a huge mortgage.
Looks like you nailed it. $250,000 property + $750,000 improvements. It still looks like a more expensive house than that to me, and it may be, but that's what I found.
If it was in a better city it would easily double. I live in Santa Cruz and you can't come close to getting a house like that for less than a couple million.
Is this a show UFC show where their FIGHTERS show of their toys??? That would really lay to rest of his salary talk...
From an old interview but it seems like he was getting a lot of money from sponsors not the ufc: Sam Caplan: How important are sponsors? I asked Joe Stevenson if he’d be able to train full-time without his sponsors and he laughed and said no way. What situation would you be in right now without sponsors? Josh Koscheck: Well, I probably wouldn’t drive the Hummer that I’m driving and I probably wouldn’t have the house that I have, that’s for sure. I do very, very well with sponsors and I’m very thankful that I have awesome managers to get the sponsorships going. So I really appreciate all of my sponsors. You can check them all out at Kos MMA. I’d especially like to thank Sprawl Fight Shorts, they’ve definitely been a big supporter of me. It would definitely be hard without the sponsors. Especially because I was in the Ultimate Fighter contract and everyone knows how those contracts work. It was great at the time and I had an awesome time doing it, but for me, without sponsors it definitely would have been hard.
True, but this thread was equating all of the stuff he has to the amount that the UFC was paying him.
It is because of fighting in the UFC that they are getting their sponsorships but that shouldn't be taken into account when it comes to what they pay their fighters. It's not like the Lakers would take into account that Kobe has a Nike sponsorship when they are deciding his pay.
Except if you listen to his words, he said he wouldt drive a hummer. Im sure his sponsers arent buying him a plane all his other cars. Again, lets be clear. The reported numbers are bullshit. Overeem's case proved this. Reported pay out had him well below the 500k paid. However because he was sued and was forced to disclose his finances, it turns out he got paid millions for the fight.
