I knew a kid in grad school who grew up in a poor area of Virginia. He said Pea went to an inner city school and yelled at a 6th grade class when he was young. "I kna what y'all is thinking. I am small. Yeah, well I'll kick all y'all lil asses right quick. " I guess, it was like a guest speaker situation to let poor children that one of their own and succeeded. Evidently, he was quickly ushered out.

I trust the guy. Don't know why he'd make it up and he was from Virginia and he was a fan of Pea's too.

My history of complete hatred for SRL is known as I have bashed that finocchio for almost a decade. I still score the fight for SRL. It wasn't the clearest fight, but I felt Hagler messed around and let too many rounds go into the bank before he got serious. Anyway you slice it, it was a close enough fight for people to disagree, but one guy's hand was raised. Hagler acts as if it was DLH/Trinidad or Holy/lewis I. Also, what's wrong with Hagler? OK so he was a bit salty about the Leonard fight, but he's always seemed pretty likeable to me.

I have always thought Hagler got the better work done in the fight and won it by 1 or 2 points, but it was CLOSE and a tough fight to score. Not a robbery. Controversial? Contentious? yes... but those things merely mean a lot of people think either guy won, it's not a robbery by any means and Hagler has nobody but himself to blame for goofing around the first few rounds.

 

Floyd, Leonard, and PRIME Hopkins. I say prime Hopkins, because right now I can't stand him as a "fighter" either.

I liked DLH early in his career. After Mosley 2, he began taking stupid fights and going up in weight and only looking to fatten his wallet and cheat the public into thinking that he was actually serious including the Hopkins and Mayweather fights.
He didn't take those fights seriously at all. He had no intention of actually trying to win them. The bodyshot KO against Hopkins was pussy sh*t too.::

i've met whitaker a few times in atlantic city and virginia, but that was years after he retired and he was very cool. max kellerman once said that when he met whitaker during his fighting days, he wasn't a likeable guy.

I met Whitaker after the heavyweight he was training won on the Holyfield-Maddalone card, Calvin Brock. He blew off one guy from fightnews in the dressing room for the most part, but I didn't have any problem with him. He was OK if he knew you knew boxing.
