He's basically admitted it before now, I think in one of the 24 7 episodes, made it pretty clear he has no intention of making the fight.

Old Mayweather sure is more fun. He has about 3 fights left just because of his skills and underrated toughness IMO. A primer version of him would have stood outside for sure and shut Cotto down, but all credit for the Miguel he fought his heart out and a good fight.

By the way, fuck Mayweather and Pacquiao. Had they fought when IT WAS THE TIME it would have been a good meaningful fight. Now, a lot of people have the right to claim both fighters are way past his prime.

One of the reasons I had it quite so close and gave Cotto a lot of credit is it looked like Cotto was fighting his fight to some extent, roughing Floyd up a bit, making Floyd look uncomfortable.

I expected Floyd to be controlling Cotto, controlling the pace, potshotting from centre ring etc, but Cotto did very well in forcing a different type of fight, using his physical strength advantage, and even making Floyd miss more than usual, and unlike most of Floyd's recent opponents, landing some nice bodyshots which were key to him winning the rounds he did IMO.

This sounds daft, but there is a lot of Vitali in Floyd. He relies on the dimensions of his upper body to stymie a lot of his opponents. An old, tired Oscar didn't have the problem of having to deal with Floyds angular shoulders and raised elbows and twisted, turned, upper body, and we saw what happened there.

Shorter guys coming in have to deal with the contours of Floyds body and stance and that hurts them. He exercises considerable skill through his body type to maximum effect.

You look at Vitali and you can see it there, very hard to nail often with a right hand, turns in behind his shoulder well, fires off a left hook on the way in, twists his body and presents his shoulders and elbows as a defence. Its a combination of skill and physical advantage and the ability to resist pressure and keep your concentration at all times.

Manny pointed it out- Floyd never takes his eyes off an opponent.

Totally agree. Colonel bob is a fat cheer leading old cunt.

And I could understand 117 but 118 is a bridge too far, stupid.

I very much agree, and to Floyd's credit, he doesn't tower over guys like Vitali does, but he manages to have the same effect with his crazy, contorting torso, shoulder movement, excellent reactions etc, you can picture fighting Floyd in his fights, and see how fucking hard it is to even touch him, especially his face.

I agree about the focus too, he's about as focused as you can get.

Ironically tonight he did look a little flustered on occasion, and threw some sloppy punches, which is pretty out of character. Not used to seeing Floyd miss much.

But yeah, looking at Floyd's style and defense, it's obvious to see why he struggles with faster fighters or rangier fighters.

Still not sure why he struggled with Cotto tonight tbh

Cotto's physical strength advantage played a part I think, it was one way he could control Floyd, and made a point of picking Floyd up to punctuate it.

8-4 was bang on the money, a point either way acceptable.

With Floyd in jail and a 32m fortune plus PPV to spend i doubt she would be going anywhere for a couple of years at least.

He's not as good at the higher weights, he's not as good when his opponent comes in at a weight that suits them rather than him, and he's not as young as he used to be either. So that explains a lot of it.

    Can't disagree much there.

Even when he's facing taller fighters you always get the feeling Floyd is somehow taller. He's a master at creating space, if I was a tall fighter I would study Floyd's fights over and over.

116-112 was the right score. 117-111 at the most.

    118-110 was too much.

She was with him before the Pacquaio fight. She was on the fightcamp 360 and yelling at Shane to fight at the bout.
