Cintron is 32, 2 years away from his career best form, never taken a serious beating & Canelo just beat him in 5 after sweeping the first 4 on every card.

Perhaps you missed the Margarito/Cintron fights.

I understand where you are coming from. I just can't get past the image of a puffy, sweaty, fleshy, sloppy, squint-eyed Alvarez gasping for air while waiting for Cintron to get up off the mat in the 5th round of a fight in which Alvarez had barely been bothered, at all. :scratcher:

I wouldn't say they were serious beatings, Cintron hasn't the heart to take one. He gave up as the fights turned that way. Either way he beat Angulo and drew with Martinez after them so you can hardly argue they ruined him.

I'd argue he took a beating both times... but yeah, I see what you're saying.

Yeah, neither can I :lol: I better shut up before I paint myself as an Alvarez true believer. I just think he might be being totally dismissed prematurely

Hut, did you see his previous fight, the loss to Medina?

That is how I knew even Alvarez would beat him easily.

He is shot, he looked slow and weak, with no reactions, no energy, nothing.

He is actually younger than most of the elite fighters around today, but he really is shot. Who knows why because he hasn't even been in any wars etc.

He is a shell of a once average fighter.

I don't know why, it's more of a gut feeling than anything, but I think the Ginger kid beats Cotto.

Anyways, I think Cotto should retire now.

Methinks there is much merit to your thinking.

For me, Alvarez still gets beaten, probably stopped, but he can't be as bad as he looks and there is the small matter of the recent elevation in the levels of his competition.

As long as a fighter remains relatively young and unbeaten, then any old element of seasoning or experience may just make him a dangerous guy.

Not dangerous enough perhaps to take out even a faded Miguel Cotto, but certainly more dangerous than most people here suppose.

He's a decent fighter, and as despicable as the hype is, the hype doesn't make him a bad fighter either.

All I wanted for Cotto was to get a pay day with Floyd and to look good enough to go out with his head held high. He did that and then some.

His post-fight response suggests a man who thinks he may still have more to offer.

A crushing defeat of The O'Hara From Guadalajara would be a major feather in his cap and would also cement his place in the pantheon of Rican fighters who beat a significant Mexican.

I therefore think we have not seen the last of Senor Cotto.

This would be an absolute war. If Saul has the heart, he can beat Cotto.

    The Cotto underration continues :kidcool:

Ginger is not in Cotto's league, he'd be beaten comfortably by Cotto and probably stopped.

You'll soon see the error of your ways dear Hut.

Though I do admit he's probably a bit better than I give him credit for. He'd beat the likes of Kirkland without much problem.

    He's not beating Cotto though.

Regardless of how good he turns out to be, Im a fan. Saul's got the same mental approach as Alexis Arguello. Total anti point-touch box-kwando.

When Saul got nothing to say, his lips are sealed! fafafafafafafa far better. The boy's never thrown off a welders mask in his passion for dance.

Cotto would get stopped. He is fragile. Canelo is overratedas a puncher, but he has enough to kayo Cotto.

You said it yourself, Ginger can't punch. Cotto would beat the crap out of him.

Regardless of how good he is, somehow I just don't really find him that watchable either.

I'd give Canelo a decent chance of beating Cotto. Last night will fool a lot of people into thinking Cotto is still prime. He's not. Last night he gave his last hurrah. Just like Shane gave his last hurrah against Marg.

Prime Cotto beats the living fuck outta Canelo. But at this point, Canelo is a pretty live dog.

People seem awfully quick to write fighters off as rolling down the hill these days.

Donaire isn't going down hill. He's just fighting guys his own size.

Floyd, Cotto, and Pac are CLEARLY past their primes. Does that mean they're washed up? Hell no. But clearly past it.

You don't need to punch to hurt Cotto. Floyd can't punch and when he landed a few clean shots, Cotto was hurt. Cotto's defense was great last night. HBO typically did a shitty job covering the fight. Neither guy was landing clean. I thought Cotto won 5 rounds. The cards were awful. Floyd won though , clearly.

I also gave Cotto 5 rounds, you should have listened to that fucking Bob Sheridan, what a total cunt.

"Look at this, jsut a master boxer, look at what he's doing there" (looking flustered against the ropes).

And whenever Cotto would land anything, he would either not say a fucking word, or he would say "Cotto landed a right hand there, BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER!!! IT DIDN'T HURT HIM!!!!!!!". It was the most disgusting, nuthugging piece of shit commentary I've ever heard, it made the Sky team seem like the most objective guys in boxing.

Oh and by the way, enough with this Cotto is shot or way past prime bullshit, where's the evidence? He looks the same now as he did when he had 10 fights. A bit slower, and a bit stronger, to be expected. He's the same. People just make this shit up. He looked as good and sharp against Floyd as he ever has, and he would school Alvarez.

Aside from the 12th, the only clear punch that was being landed was Cotto's shotgun jab. Ironically, Larry was sucking Floyd off. I will say this. The rounds that Floyd won were pretty clear. I thought most of the rounds were pretty close and arguable. The cards were awful, just awful.
