Was the whole movie shot in 3D where you had to keep the 3D glasses on throughout or only parts of it? Don't your eyes go funny after a while when watching 2+ hours through 3D glasses? I know many folk complain about 3D. Just wondering how it is.

  3. Entire film. Was annoying for the first 15 mins, then I got used to it.

The Avengers HULK SMASH! Did I said'smash'? because this is what this movie is: the best freaking comicbook superhero movie ever! this film delivers on all aspects, but the one that it exceeds is in the FUN department. This is the most fun I had watching a movie since 1981 when Raiders Of The Lost Ark blew my socks off. I watched it at the 2:30PM Matinee and the audience in the theater was cheering and clapping and laughing all the time. It received a standing ovation when the credits started rolling...and yeah, the next movie villain revelation was a pleasant surprise that gave my nerd genes an almost instant orgasm. Forget about the pesimistic people and Batman tools who keep trying to discourage people from watching this great film. Do yourself a favor and go and enjoy it in a jam packed movie theater!(Speaking of The Dark Knight Rises: the new trailer was shown right after the new trailer for The Expendables 2 received lot of cheers from the audience who strangely didn't react to the new TDKR trailer...not a good sign when a Stallone trailer beats your most-anticipated-film-of-the-year trailer). Joss Whedon is THE MAN from now on. The Avengers is what entertainment is all about. Great, great film. 10/10

I had the same problem, but with Batman Begins: it will put me to sleep after a few minutes and it dragged for too long, so I kept stopping it and regretting every time having bought it without watching it first. That is why I never bothered to watch The Dark Knight until it came out on HBO.

I actually don't get the Iron Man hate.

I find both Iron Man films easily the most rewatchable of any of the comic book films. Don't get me wrong The Dark Knight and Watchmen are my top 2 favorites, but I enjoy IM 1 & 2 just as much and have seen both more than any other comic flick.

The reason is simple. Robert Downy Jr as Tony Stark makes that film. Downy is simply brilliant as Stark and the humor, well written dialogue and characters make both films great IMO, especially part two. Kudos to Micky Rourke and Sam Rockwell as I love their portrayal of the villian and Justin Hammer. On top of all that the action sequences in the Iron Man films just never get old to me.

Lots of actors have quit and or been replaced in comic films but I don't think you could replace Downy and get nearly the same impact of character out of Tony Stark. I guess it's actually a blessing Downy was at such a low point in his life & career that he was affordable for the job.

This was really entertaining action. There was no point in it of course, but it looked superb and it was genuinely funny too

It just bored the shit out of me. There is only so much quick wit i can take. Between Iron man and Sherlock Holmes, i getting my full of Downey Jr. Who is exactly the same with or without the accent.

I actually only saw the Sherlock Holmes film once and have yet to catch the sequel so you may have a good point. Still though, I think you're missing out on a nice fun flick.

I'm watching it on Tuesday evening. Then we'll discuss it. I'm just glad Harry Potter has finally been knocked off as the biggest opener at the box office ever. Hate that geeky kid and his band of loser friends.

  12. Couldn't agree more.

  13. Watched it a 2nd time last night - still dead good.

Just got back. The place was packed. Arrived there almost an hour early and still was near the back of the lines. Ages of people there varied from little kids with their parents to teenagers, to twenty and thirty-somethings to some old folk. The thing is though that The Avengers, particularly characters like Hulk, Iron-Man, Thor, etc have been around since 1962 so obviously the kids who were reading the comics 50 years ago are still enamoured with the characters even today since it's part of their childhood which is why many older folk are turning out to see these superhero movies. It's not like superheroes were invented yesterday and ignorant people think the stuff is all for kids even though these characters are decades old.
The movie was very good too. The story is far too complex for kids though so I could see they were restless until the action picked up in the latter part of the movie.
Best part was Hulk smashing the sh*t out (I won't spoil) but whole theater erupted.
Everybody loved the Hulk most out of all the Avengers.

Well I like both but 2 is easily the superior film in my opinion. The extra characters I mentioned earlier are in that film. Hell Don Cheadle's in it too, but I think his small role and limited character depth don't do him justice here so it's only a marginal role he has. Also Sam Jackson is in here a bit too. Pretty good stuff long as you don't take it seriously and just sit back and enjoy.

The Hulk cgi is getting better. Much better than the Ang Lee version from 2003.

  27. word.

Some great scenes in that film.

    I also liked:

"Be careful what you say about Loki, he's my brother!"

"He killed 80 people in 3 days"

    "He's adopted."
